Prospect Info: 2022 Draft: #36 - Artem Duda, LHD

Today it was reported that Duda made a request towards CSKA to buy out the remaining part of his KHL contract, but CSKA didn't agree to that.

Do you have a link to the report? Would love to check that out. Thanks!

From my source, this will likely be a nothing burger. He might end up having to sit out a few games but that's it.

Thanks! Can I ask you a quick favor? I’ve been watching a ton of Loko games on the MHL channel to get looks at Simashev, But and Surin. I really want to check out Dynamo Moscow too (I want to watch Chernyshov). But all I can find on the channel are Dynamo Minsk and Dynamo SBP.

Do you know why Dynamo Moscow isn’t there? Or am I missing something? I can’t read in Russian so I’m wondering if maybe there’s a different abbreviation I’m not connecting.

Thanks!
I think you've been correctly instructed already at the prospects forum, so I can't really add anything there. :)

Still a very interesting case, I mean NCAA eligibility is only one burden, an active KHL contract might be an issue when/if he decides to sign later in the NHL too.

Crazy thing is that I’ve clicked on like 10+ different games from last season, and fast forwarded to the lineups and he’s not been in any of them.

I’m not sure why. Loko it’s easy to find But and Simashev games. But Chernyshov is elusive to me.

I usually open a player's MHL profile to see which games he has played in and then search on youtube for the game I've chosen.

I wish someone could explain to me how he has to buyout a Professional Contract and yet still be NCAA eligible while major Jr hockey players aren't??

Tom Willander as well. Played some for Rogle last year and will be attending and playing for BU this fall.

Sucks. I feel bad for the kid. He was enrolled in classes and doing coursework. It’s pretty outrageous that a professional men’s team would do this. It’s a kid trying to go to school. Feels very gross.
Really socks, he WAS going to where my granddaughter plays softball- U Maine and Go Black Bears!!

I think this is better for his hockey development.

It'll be a tough pill for him personally, but that's the kind of adversity that helps you grow as a person. When he gets to Tucson a year from now he'll be happier to be there.

True. It seemed like hitting pause on the hockey maturation process. I mean, it doesn’t hurt to get acclimated to the North American game, the North American ice surface and the North American culture, though. Going from one of the 3 best teams in the 2nd best league in the world to the Maine Black Bears is a big step down, though. No doubt.

From Craig today… NCAA taking another look at his appeal.

Artyom Duda update

Per sources, the NCAA has re-opened Artyom Duda’s case for appeal after initially rejecting the appeal and Duda’s efforts to play for the University of Maine this season.

The Coyotes would rather not have Duda return to Russia. If Maine does not pan out, the USHL is also a possibility. Youngstown added Duda to its 30-man protected list in July, but the IIHF would also have a say in whether Duda could play there.

Maine begins its season on Oct. 7 against New Hampshire.

He would remain ineligible for the NHL until he fulfills his contract though, right?
If true then why would the Coyotes want him state side? Better to let him fulfill his duties early.
I guess Bill must see an opportunity for Duda to skip out on the contract.

Duda will have to buy himself out of his deal at some point.

I know I'm beating this to death but how can a Player need to buy his way out of a Professional contract to play in NHL and somehow be able to play College hockey while kids who get pocket money in Major Jr are ineligible?? It just makes no sense
