Rutger, add Barron.

Just looking at the options it’s nice to see how our prospect cupboard has been rebuilt a fair bit. Lots of good pieces there. Hopefully we hold onto our 1st this year and add another piece to the next contention window.

Serious question.
Who will be better, Rutger or Chaz? Chaz isn't getting much love compared to Rutger.

Watched Chaz a couple times at Minnesota and I have some pretty big concerns about his skating. I am hoping it was more to do with coming back from his knee injury and how it was handled at Minnesota.

If we are talking purely about talent, Chibrikov, Lambert, McRoarty and Lucius are tops (in whatever order)........but I still go Samberg here.

Serious question.

Agreed. Chaz made the jump from USHL to Big 10 and didn't miss a beat.

My concern with Chaz is durability. They are both really good goal scorers that need to improve their skating but at this stage I think McGroarty brings more to the table with size, physicality, durability, and leadership.

I think I may go off board here and go with Chisholm. I don't think he's very far away from the NHL and I think he has second pairing puck rushing ability with a solid defensive game.

Yeah I have some concerns about Chaz. He's suffered a few lower body injuries which can't help his already poor skating. I also find his game pretty one dimensional. He can finish but doesn't do much else at a high level.

Most every other top prospect we have is more rounded.

That’s the same opinion I have. Honestly right now he is number 6 on my list.

Went with McGRT. Samberg is much further along in development, but ultimately McGRT will have a bigger impact.

Samberg will firmly be my #4

I like your Chisholm pick.

I found him interesting on draft day and really liked his D+1 season and thats where I thought we might have something here. He reminds me a bit of TJ Brodie. I do think he is going to be a solid NHL D man too.

I could be wrong, but I think Chaz is more one dimensional. Don’t think he impacts the game as well in different areas like Rutger does. That’s not to say that things can’t change and Chaz develops a better 200ft game.

One dimensional in what way? I think he distributes as well as he shoots the puck as his vision is excellent. You mean physicality?

What I like about this entire idea of reviewing our prospects is it takes us out of the negativity loop.

Maybe one dimensional in the way that Laine and Connor were when they arrived. If they aren’t in the O zone on the attack they were hurting you. Thankfully they were both really good in the offensive zone on the attack. You don’t want to many of that type on your team at the same time. Its one of the reasons the Jets have struggled the past few seasons.

I see him excelling as an offensive zone player as PS241 stated in his post above. The physicality, board play, d-zone coverage may be work in progress.

For me, McGroarty has the highest upside, I think the kid could be a really solid top-6 C.

This was a weak draft... Samberg is still #3. None of us know anything about McGR.

Where does Chaz play this year?

Does he have a built i. Spot on Moose in his draft plus 2 year?

I went with Ssmberg as I believe he has higher upside than Heinola that already went 2 nd.
