Started the play to Larkin and then went to the net and ended up getting the goal credited. Not bad kid, not bad

He's doing all the small important things whilst actually having hands and vision making plays along the boards unlike Rasmussen or Veleno

Would like Kasper to pace his timing into soft spots a bit better so that Larks/Ray can use him even more, but that's going to come with experience

With that being said, send him to the AHL immediately

I hope so too, but offensively I'd like to see more. He's gotta start making adjustments to his game. Maybe it's something he can focus on during the summer. The NHL plays so many games, it's hard to make adjustments in season. Which of course makes Todd look like a genius so far.
7 points the last 6. Doesn’t really matter how, he’s getting on the scoresheet. I’d re-iterate that among his peers he’s doing just fine.

Send him to LNAH! We need Kasper to get realgud at punching people in the head. He’s making too many hockeyball plays.

I will belabor the point here again as this thread continues to thrive:

Kasper is more skilled than people give him credit for. He drives play, whether it shows on the score sheet or not. That's literally what makes him special. For those saying "Oh, I can't see the skill", "where's his shot?". Just because he's not dangling doesn't mean he's not creating opportunity. He brings so many things we need to fill in the gaps to keep our offense moving.

That goal is a perfect example of it. Smart passing, moving into space, reading the play, and he's the only one on our team that's capable of crashing and screening the crease. He's going to score off his butt, but it's intentional. Rejoice, we haven't really see this kind of net presence since Homer. What makes him better than Homer is he can also play facing the net and can skate. The kid does so many smart things, we should be absolutely pumped he's on our team. And remember, he's freakin' 20 years old and he's playing in our Top 6 and is beginning to stand out. The 2022 Draft, the only guys I see who I think are honestly better than him are Slaf and Cooley. Kasper is this really solid all-round C with a ton of grit, and smarts. This second half of the year is going to be fun because he is looking a lot more confident out there.

edit: and Huston - forgot about him

And the team is 3-3-0 in those games which means more. He's on the top line, when he scores the team wins, when he doesn't the team loses. I'm not liking the odds there with Marco.

The entire point was that he wasn't gonna add any grit without being able to fight. He's not going around crosschecking guys from behind and playing dirty like he was in SHL or GR. He knows he'll get his ass kicked.

Is it really that hard to just admit your take was wrong? Come on ... this is a stretch. I keep rereading this and am not even sure what you're trying to say, other than clearly continuing to drag Kasper.

He never admits such things.

Ahhhh more lies. I've already said Gus sucks way worse than I ever expected.

We've seen just about every player go on a hot streak, I'll wait on this one before admitting I was wrong. Joey racked up a few points on the top line, nobody cared. So did Kubalik last season, as did Perron. The only thing Kasper has done so far is prove that he's better than Brome and Perlini.

If the team continues to come out flat like the last 2 games, Todd is gonna shuffle lines here pretty soon, and it'll be the top 2 lines. Shuffling garbage at the bottom is meaningless. He put Fischer in, and he's managed to go -1 every game. I suppose that guarantees a roster spot for Kasper.

You make bad faith after bad faith argument about Kasper.

You are the new MBH.

Kasper, Brome and Perlini in the same sentence is wild.

I hope what Kasper is doing this year is the blue print for Danielson next year. Kasper starts as the second line center, and Danielson starts on the wing on the top line. Have those guys kinda interchangeable and let Danielson build some confidence/ before throwing him down the middle.

Kaspers rookie season is starting to look really solid

Larkin is a 70-80 pt player, and Raymond is a 90pt one. DBC, if he's extended further, is a 65-70pt player. Once Kane is gone, if the next best offensive players on our team are 2 50 pt centres, we aren't winning anything. Dave Bolland only shined in his role because he was sheltered by Kane and Toews being actual stars.
Here are the stats for Kane and Toews for each year Chicago won the Cup. Numbers in parentheses are the pro-rated totals to account for the shortened season.
* 2009-10) Kane 30-58-88, Toews 25-43-68
* 2012-13) Kane 23-32-55(94), Toews 23-25-48(82)
* 2014-15) Toews 28-38-66, Kane 27-37-64 in 61GM

To me it looks like Larkin's production is right in line with Toews and Raymond's is right in line with Kane.

This iteration of the Wings is likely never going to have anybody top 100 points. But if they continue to build around the existing core and supplement externally as needed, it's still very possible to get it done without that level of scorer.

This was a much lower scoring era Jamie Benn won the art ross in 2015 with 87 pts.

That's just one of the 3 years. In 2010 Henrik Sedin had 112 points. In 2013 Martin St Louis had 60 in 48 games, which is a pro-rated 102.5 points.

But that aside, I'd argue that Detroit is building a roster that will be harder to play against than those Chicago teams. The point remains that this rebuild is far from doomed - it just needs a trade or two to go with the remainder of the pending kids.

This all kind of feels like semantics? There's lots of different ways to compete and build a competitive roster to compete for a cup? The 2010's BOS teams with Thomas, Chara for instance. Their top point getter was freakin' Lucic. Now did they have 12+ dudes with more than 10g each but that's a good example of going deep, not top heavy. How about the 2014 Rangers? Zucarello at 59pts as their regular season leader. - the list kind of goes on lists of teams that have made the finals with none stud 1:2 C's a ppg, etc.

I don't know why we think have Larkin - Danielson - Kasper and them being "only 50pt C's" as a problem

How many teams last 15 years won the cup with 50pt only centers?

I agree I don’t think it’s doomed by any means. But we do need another top offensive piece IMO. A second Raymond level player. UFA and trade is also ok to acquire that
