To be fair Larkin got 45 points in his rookie year. His second year that you referred to was a sophomore slump which he followed up with 63 points. I don't see Kasper getting 45 this year, or even 32, and definitely don't see him as a 60+ point player.
I'm fully aware that Larkin got off to a great career by putting up points riding shotgun on Z's line his first year. The point was that he then struggled once asked to center a line as a 20 year old but was able to grow as a player to become the Larkin we love today. People are whining that he's not carrying a line and putting up numbers as a 20 year old in his 2nd season in NA. If he had played NA jr hockey, he would have literally been eligible for the AHL starting this season. Instead, he's treading water in the NHL and getting his feet wet in anticipation of a bigger role next year.

yea, of the 2 of us i'm the troll lol. i'd be willing to conduct a poll and bet a username change plus $100 to the charity of your choice on that one

i don't think you know what gaslighting means

This website considers honesty as trolling, which is hilarious (and also will be the undoing of this website eventually). Fact of the matter is, the team sucked because the players played like shit, and I don't consider calling out players as "trolling". It's not like I was making shit up like you did.

As well as this team is playing, there are still a lot of players that suck at scoring, and Kasper is on that list. The big improvements have come from guys we expected to score to begin with like Ray, DBC, Larkin, and Kane.

Nothing says build up confidence quite like "You don't belong in this league, kid"
Many players have bounced up and down from the AHL or healthy scratched like Shane Wright. If their ego is that fragile, they don't belong in the league. And much like Zadina, the issue here isn't confidence. He needs to rethink his game and make some adjustments. Confidence won't make the puck go in when Kasper shoves it at the goalie.

I just want to make it clear, I am the poster who wants the most by far, Kasper out of the lineup.

Anyone else who strongly wants him out of the lineup?

Motte's at the top of my list, not Kasper. However, if Kasper gets put on the 4th line again, then he might as well head to GR.

He probably should sit a game for the SH goal against last game. WTF was that shit?

He's gonna be ok. 20 year old playing the middle isnt easy. Hes good in his end, and only going to improve. Has a high motor, hockey IQ is not lacking, 2 way play... not sure what some do not see in him. He has huge promise. No flash and dash yet, but if you watch a lot of the actual games. He has not looked outplayed more than a handful of times this year, that I can clearly remember.

Still learning

Probably his best game this year tonight.

Does so many of the little instinctive things well. Stuff you can't teach. Starting to play with a little more recklessness in terms of planting guys into the boards on the forecheck.

His game is subtle, and effective.

He's just so solid and consistent at little things that help his team. A couple of wayward plays with the puck early, then had a really good game. He's better on the boards in his own end than most of the other wingers already. He made plays at the offensive blueliine and deep on forechecks that helped create hallf-chances for Raymond. He takes a solid hit on a forecheck and kicks the puck to a teammate. No puck bobble or hesitation on the EN pass to Larkin. He's almost never out of position or caught up-ice. Oh yeah, then there's the quick release and accurate snapshot that surpiised Bob. It's insane to think he and the Wings would be better off if he was in GR.

His game is really straight meat and potatoes. He rarely makes flashy plays. This is not his style. He moves and often choses the simplest of choices that are still effective to get the job done. It is economical. The difference with him is that his compete, his physicality, his IQ, and again, his highly underrated skating because half of the this board still thinks he's a bad skater for some insane reason, make him effective in aspects outside of directly scoring. There are mocking around "oh he's good at puck retrieval", yeah, he is and he makes plays happen for his teammates because he is like a dog in the corners and on the crease. He literally makes his linemates lives better.

All of this is outside of the fact that he can and does put up points. And he can do it a number of ways. He can shoot, he bangs in rebounds, he can use small subtle passing, etc. Just because hes not dangling around on a string doesn't mean he's not offensive or effective. As a 18yo, he put up points in Rogle against men and did it responsibly. As a 19yo coming off of a cracked knee cap, he started basically half way through the AHL season and tore it up. I think he threw a 1pt in his first 15 games or something. and then he crushed like 30 points in the last 45 games. Now he's doing it again like he has every year and at every level. This kid is going to be a great piece for us for like the next 10 years. Be happy we have him

He looks much better at wing right now. He clearly was struggling to produce when playing center, there was just too much for him to worry about and he was looking a bit overwhelmed. Playing wing allows him to simplify his game, and allows him to learn from Larkin. Very happy we moved him there.
