all of yzerman's first round picks so far will go top 5 in a redraft

don't @ me
I'm @'ing you. Mo and Ray are top 2-3 players in their respective classes, easily, but I'm not sure on the rest.

Ed's class is stacked, with Power, Wyatt Johnston, Guenther, Hughes, McTavish, Beniers, Clarke, Kent Johnston among others all performing really well post draft. Plus there's Wallstedt and Stankoven who might crash the party too. Now I think Ed has the potential to be as good as any of them (his ceiling remains sky-high) he's got a lot to overcome. Cossa on the other hand does have a good chance of being an a top goalie, but this class is seriously stacked.

Kasper's class is much weaker, but Cooley, Slaf, Mintyukov and Cutter are for sure above him at this point. So he's in a dead heat with like 10 other players for 5th, which means he was a good pick at that slot, but don't forget there is a dark horse I didn't mention: Buchelnikov.

Danielson I think has no shot, even if he hits. Bedard, Michkov, Carlsson and Fantilli are all gonna be/are studs. Will Smith, Reinbacher and Leonard I think all have a good chance of being high end players as well. Meanwhile I think ASP has a serious chance of being top 5 if his offense translates completely and his defensive improves a bit. I still can't believe he fell to 17.

MBN is probably the least likely to be top 5 in a redraft, but that class is so recent I think it's almost impossible to evaluate in terms of redrafting it anyway.

Marco Kasper 7 points in 21 games played - flirting

Shane Wright 7 points in 23 games played - hello, Human Resources?

6 in the last 10 for Kasper. Not including being robbed last night because Gustafsson is a bag of suck.

5 in the last 10 for Wright.

Kasper may not be on the scoresheet every night but you notice him regardless. Shane Wright is invisible when not on the scoresheet.

His even strenght oiSH% is at 5.1, think it's fair to say his lack of 5v5 production can be attributed to bad luck. This supports the eye-test, cause it looks like he creates alot of chances every night.

Him and Burger have been the most consistent chance creators game in and out. The oiSH% will rise once they get a legit 3rd linemate.

This is clearly wrong.

If Ed and Cossa have tied for 1st, the next position available is third.

Kasper and Danielson do give us some hope of having good centers once Larkin begins to slow down (may it happen far in the future). They play all 200 feet, have surprising skill and creativity, with Marco playing with a noticeable edge while Nate is more dynamic with the puck.

I've not really liked Wright since his draft year, though I do feel for him given the hype perhaps unfairly placed upon him. I definitely have Marco in at least the same tier as him in a re-draft and I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year I have Marco at one of that tier and him at the other end.

Him and Burger have been the most consistent chance creators game in and out. The oiSH% will rise once they get a legit 3rd linemate.
We really need more guys like them rather than Ras/Copp/Compher/Veleno. At this point I feel like we'd be better off without any of them, but they're all here for at least one more year *sigh*. On another team, Burger and Kasper would be breakout players, and we're still starting to see some signs of it as they figure out on the fly how to create more of their own looks in the NHL.

Kasper had some time getting acclimated, but as soon as he got more into top 6 minutes, the points have started to come for sure. The points don't even match how good he has been on the eye test, but 6 points his last 10 is a good streak for a rookie.

The problem with Wright is about development more than anything. WHen you're an exceptional status guy but then your development goes slowly and you're not all that dominant compared to what you should be... people will start to doubt you.

His development has been on the upward trajectory for a high end forward. that you want, I wouldn't trade Kasper for him

Wright first 18 games this season: 2 pts
Last 12 games: 12 points

The big knock on him is that he doesn't carry the puck or drive the play. When he's playing with the right linemates, he can put up some points.

Weak draft year though. Nobody making noise yet.

No points in 10. So when are we allowed to say that just maybe, all this “limited upside talk” might be true?
That's flat out wrong. No points in his last 8 games

He does a lot of the right things offensively and unlike nearly all of our veteran forwards, he can carry into the zone and distribute the puck. I wouldn't sit and point fingers at a 20 year old who has been miscast as the team's 2C with a revolving door of wingers who mostly suck offensively and are weak defensively

Maybe Lalonde should come to his senses and put him with Larkin and Raymond? I guarantee he would put up points, though he still might not please everyone even at that

he’s not a line driver. Just facts. Did i want him at our choice? probably not but hes a good player. one of the only players to play with jam and some f***in heart on this team. Kasper will be a fine wing coming from someone who wasn’t happy with the selection.

Not many are line drivers year one, that includes Raymond who needed Larkin and Larkin who needed Zetterberg.

His motor seems neverending. As much as I'm excited to see his offense begin to flourish, I'm even more so excited to see that really annoying and hard to play against pesky Marchand/Callahan type player he was in the SHL.
Kasper-Larkin-Raymond.

Give the kid a chance to produce. Force him to fail in front of your eyes. He's being used as a grinder most nights, had a moment with Kane/Debrincat but they broke that up and play him a lot with Berggren it seems.
I've been saying this for the last few weeks. Throw him on the top line, I mean what could possibly be any worse than what this team has done recently?

When the season is lost these are the things that have to start happening…
So like yesterday lol

Pencilling him in at 4th line center is so dumb. Try him on a wing and just tell him to fly around and be annoying. Raymond will find him and the confidence will come. The wings have been so bad, and he's one of the only guys that looks like he gives a shit. Veleno can play 4th line center for a game or two and try that out
