He needs to get bigger and continue working on his skating. Why would he leave the league thats taylor made to make gains in those aspects for one where it's the opposite?
What is this obsession about players getting bigger, then when they're too big it also spark debates.

He should go back to BU for one more year but he's almost the perfect size already.

Harris is a mature 22 year old. Hutson is what 18? Apples and oranges.
Hutson has world class skills while Harris is not close in that department.
Harris's defensive game is superior to Hutson's and I'm not a really big fan of Harris. He's a decent NHL third-line d-man.

Huston has a serious problem with decent skaters burning him wide. That's one defensive problem. He has a few others. The Habs will have to work overtime to get his defensive game ready for the NHL.

What league is tailor made to make players get bigger???

I know players in a beer league that get bigger.

As for working on skating, why would Boston U have a better teaching environment than the Montreal Canadiens and their whole organization?

It’s just about precedence. There is a proven track record of exceptional 5’10 and 175lbs defenseman becoming elite dmen in the NHL.

There’s no proof of any smaller exceptional defensemen becoming impact NHLers yet. Doesnt mean that Hutson will bust if he doesn't reach that weight, but it definitely gives him a better chance of hitting.

Boston University plays 2 games a week, maximum. Meaning instead of games, they have more time to practice and get into the gym. Less time recovering from a game the night before.

NCAA is the better league to develop someone physically because they aren't playing as many games.

Well he won't have any impact in the NHL at that weight playing defense. He will definitely need to add some weight and get stronger. Just send him to live with Bouillon for a few weeks lol.

NCAA is actually really good for getting bigger/filling out. They don't play as many games and spend more time in the weight room.

There is out-of-the-box thinking possible, such as not playing Hutson on consecutive nights at the beginning of his AHL career. There are other Ds around they could play as well. A 55 game schedule would be about 10 games more than he plays this year including friendlies, Beancup, the WJC, regular season and playoffs. But the team would have control of his environment, and he can spend his study time learning hockey instead of (eg.) calculus. Seeing how this guy learns and adapts, I would not be surprised at all if by his second year in the AHL, he would be on the all-star team.

I'd argue the NHL should be scheduled in the same manner. The games would be so much better and more intense.
