Who said he didnt have good skating?

His edges and crossovers are damn near perfect. He stays low, has good knee flexion and he generates speed on extension. Hes gonna get faster as he gets stronger but other than that I dont know why someone would say hes not a good skater. Theres a bit of a problem with his ankle flexion and outside edge control and his backwards skating isnt top notch because he lacks hip strength but honestly were reaching. He is 100% a good skater.
I don’t think anyone says his skating is bad. Lots of people have said that he needs to improve to be able to survive in the NHL as a small D. Different standard.

His skating certainly isn't bad and would be considered even better if he was a forward. His main issues are back skating and power, fortunately he has at least two or three seasons to improve before he can even think about challenging for a roster spot.

I do love that he has an enormous chip on his shoulder and really gives the impression that he is convinced that he will be a big time contributor in the NHL. I have expressed my concerns about his limitations but this kid is very driven and I never count out people with that type of competitive edge.

He has definitely adapted in some interesting ways as he has learned to carry the puck and stick handle with his stick much further from his body than most which helps to negate some of his natural reach advantage and helps to shield the puck from opponents despite his tiny frame. He uses a wide stance as well to increase his base and improve his ability to absorb contact as he anticipates the contact that transfers his weight to the inside edge of his outer leg and actually uses his opponents inertia to propel him while in a wide stance.

Anyways....alot of fun to watch as the kid has brains for days and the current management should find a way to exploit his strengths.

speaking of his skating, what's he doing with his hands, it just looks wrong to me.

if you go to the 8:52 mark, 5:43 mark, 7:09, 8:14

he doesn't always do it but i've noticed it here and there.

Yeah it is bizarre looking, his straight ahead speed is very average and I think this is just an unorthodox attempt to desperately generate the power that he is currently missing. A kid with skinny legs and a small butt trying to create extra inertia.....

This will need to be corrected and will likely come naturally if he can build his bottom half.

It's a Naruto run, one of the fastest way to move through space that is known to mankind, i'm happy one of the youngster is working on getting it in this dinosaur of a league.

No but really not many players do these days. Quick, accurate shots from the point are better.
Good on ya! Totally unexpected and surprisingly astute, did not see that coming for a simple yes or no question, thanks! Montreal's PP would be better if they did have that weapon at their disposal, would make them less predictable. Perhaps this Logan kid down the road might have this in his repertoire to go along with the other necessary tools to be a PP QB.

According to an article in Habs Eyes on the Prize, Hutson has grown 2" and is 5'9" now. He has another year of growth left. Hopefully he hits at least 5'11" like his dad and brother.

He was always listed at 5'8", it changed to 5'9" a few months ago, anyway with the skills he has, he will be tall enough lol.
His skills are off the charts even if his height stays as is. Adding one inch of height to his frame won’t be a difference-maker.

He doesn't look that small to me when he's on the ice. Not to the point where it can be an insurmountable hurdle at least.

Straight ahead speed is definitely something you wan to see improved though. If he can get Caufield like returns in his skating development in the next few years then he should be a beauty

Honest question, is that an old pic he's posting from when he was like 13?

If not, what a baby face. Baby faced killa!

Yes, it's an old photo. But Baby Faced Killa is a nice nickname.

Phil the Thrill & the Baby Face Killa!!!

Here is what Lane looks like now:

Let the monikers and pun attempts break open the flood gates.

I attempted a Hutson pun a while back but maybe only one poster got it, so it couldn’t have been too worthy. It was this post:

A poster asked how Hutson was going to deal with big bodies and I replied that Hutson was going to keep them at bay (a reference to Hudson’s Bay).

I know, with material like that, I won’t even ask you to try the veal. Show’s cancelled.

He doesn't look that small besides his teamates.
Caufield looks like a real midget, no taller than Desharnais.
