Prospect Info: 2022 31st Overall Pick | LW Isaac Howard

Injuries are sort of another matter. They can take a little while to figure out, and knowledge can give an advantage to the other team.

We can be kept in suspense, but I think we're sort of inclined to doom spiral if it goes on too long.

I'm also a fan of an ECHL team, so a guy goes on 14-day IR and you basically never hear about them again until they come off.
Yeah the injury comparison wasn't my best effort but I find it entertaining that it can be the most obvious thing you've ever seen and the Lightning will act like they have no idea what's going on. With Howard I'm surprised they even elaborated on there being a plan even though it's obvious. We seldom ever get that much

Howard goals during our playoff run, while playing with Hagel and Cirelli, will hit like crack.
I'm so sick of Hagel and Cirelli. Put Hagel on with Point and Kucherov and put Howard on a line with Guentzel and Paul. Let Cirelli grind to death with Gourde and Bjorkstrand. If you're not gonna do that then at least put Hagel and Gourde back together

The random 2 weeks of 8 goal games is not worth how stagnant these lines are the other 70% of the time

I think breaking up Hagel and Cirelli is insane, especially if that means separating the two best pure goal scorers on the team from Kucherov.

Yeah, I actually really like the way our roster is constructed right now. I think in the off-season if you can get a good complementary winger you can experiment with moving around Guentzel but we don't really have that right now.

Cirelli/Hagel do get a little bit streaky but they've shown this season to be far better together than separated and even when they're not scoring they play an extremely important role for this team.

My reaction seeing the rangers play a player straight out college while chasing a wild card spot..

I don't think Perreault playing has anything to do with why they're losing
I was making a joke about people not wanting Howard to play because he might make crucial mistake while we are chasing division lead comments.

It’s obvious that the Rangers think adding a highly talented forward who’s been playing against men might give them a spark.

You need a true shutdown line and the only one we have iced is Hagel-Cirelli-Paul. Can't have a weak link on the wing when you're playing heavy, crucial minutes against the league's best. I like the top 6 the way it is.

Leonard has certainly added a bit of grit to the Caps. He needs to pick his spots though. He's not THAT tough.

My perspective on this has changed - we are the only team that can give him an ELC that will drop the third year. I think the games played is a nice gesture but isn’t the most important thing to Howard.

I expect them to get it done last week and he plays the final game.

ELC length is determined by the player's age. Howard is 21, so he's getting three years. If he's 22, it becomes a two-year deal.

He's RFA at the end of it, so it's still cost controlled.

12. Finally some clarity on Isaac Howard: he is planning a return to Michigan State. Tampa Bay’s 2022 first-rounder can be an unrestricted free agent if unsigned by Aug. 15, 2026. I admit to being a little bit surprised, as the Lightning were promoting his Hobey Baker candidacy (Howard is a finalist). But word in NCAA circles is the team and Howard weren’t simpatico on where everything stood at this time. We will see how things proceed from here, especially if other teams are interested.
