my post game thoughts...

I Regret we cant play Canucks in first rd.

Losses against Edmonton, Loss against Vegas, Loss against Colorado all teams we could face in playoffs doesnt bode well. Saw Mark Stone is skating again for Vegas as well. I hate that team.

Tmac can win against bad teams but cant against playoff teams. I know playoffs is a different animal altogether but...

As mentioned- I like Durzi. Has character and willing to step up for teammates....but his d play is going to lose us a playoff game. If Im an opposing coach with the last change I salivate at putting my top scoring line against whatever pair he is playing on. That last shift of his was nail biting time and classic Durzi falling in the slot and trying to sweep the puck out with his hand. Once again- not a hater, hes the most likable dude on the team but come playoffs this is going to cost us games.

Walker has played some decent hockey- him and Bjornfot would be a legit bottom 6 pairing.

Really hope the Kings can make something happen to resign Gavrikov and Korpisalo. Both of those players are legit and sorely needed.

Kaliyev scores- and gets the least amount of TOI.

which brings me to the updated Pts per TOI average.

Byfield squeezing the stick harder than me in the 10th grade with the female undergrad substitute English teacher. Do notice hes trying to play a bit more physical and getting a bit more involved. If memory serves he was good in last years playoffs- hope we see a repeat.

After seeing Kempe fight I remember hoping the Kings would have signed Nic Delauriers. Lost opportunity there.

Kings should rest players Thursday....no point in playing the stars if at all possible. Let Byfield play center and roll with the punches.
Too much fail with this post.

LA should rest players, no
Lost opportunity to sign Nic Deslauriers, no
Regrets LA wont play Vancouver in the 1st round, how ?

LA cant beat playoff teams, uh ok, perhaps you mean in a 7 game series ?

Whatever.

Whatever.

The part about Vancouver was clearly jest given they arent making the playoffs.

The part about Deslauriers addressing the lack of toughness.

The part about beating quality teams as evidenced by the losses in recent games to those same quality teams clearly self explanatory.

The fail here is your comprehension skills. Whatever.

So then...by your logic, Carolina can't even beat non-playoff teams...right?

Would love to see them be tough against a team they might see again in a week or two versus a team they won't see for six to seven months but it had to start somewhere.

Miller had a healthy slash on Roy in the 1st that led to the two of them circling each other and then Miller switched over to Kempe. Kempe isn't a shrinking violet but he has been targeted far too often the past few weeks as the intensity picks up. I don't want him fighting very often but what he did last night goes a real long way in the locker room.

While I've been bitching about the lack of toughness on this team, I've said it is the best players that have to set the tone. We know that Kopitar and Doughty aren't those type of guys when the game gets chippy so it is on Kempe, Danault, Anderson, Roy etc...to not back down and actually take it to the other team. These young guys will follow the lead of whatever the vets are doing which is why there is almost never any response from this team.

I was very worried for Kempe's health when the fight started but that was a moment this team absolutely needed before the playoffs start: the events of the last few weeks demanded it.

Every Vancouver game I’ve watched this year Miller has been a dick. Not just to the other opponents but also his own team.

I think this dude has quickly figured out what a mistake it was that he signed long term in Vancouver.
forget when it was, but he took a run at someone below the goal line and missed then just looked up, sulked and slowly skated towards the bench while the kings were breaking out 5v4

that shit would infuriate me as a teammate

Remember when we all hated the Canucks of this era?

Last night’s game conjured up those feelings, except the current Canucks have less of a cast of unlikeable assholes.

That vid made me happy..the sound of Bob's voice over all those great plays by the guys.. give me a time machine.. those were good times

I would like the team to be bigger and tougher, it just can't come at the cost of worsening the roster.

Lemieux was actually good at playing hockey last year in addition to providing some physicality and agitation.

I’ll take JT Miller on my team.

Kings are small and soft and are going to steam rolled in the playoffs.

Blake will need to look at Reaves, Lucic, Ritchie in the off season.

Deslauries said he was done with California - didn’t mention if the Kings specifically or returning to the Ducks.

I would give anything to have Bob back. I don't hate Faust, but I am disliking his schtick more and more as he grows more confident in his homerism. Fox is emotional and will always be on the Kings' perspective of things, but at least he mostly calls it like he sees it and will criticize many aspects of the Kings' earnestly. While Faust will point out the obvious things wrong eventually, he sells the team and their perspective way too hard for a play-by-play announcer. He is starting to sound more and more like the homers we hate.

I also would give anything to have that team back as well :P They would have curb stomped anybody that messed with them in an instant.

When DL said every team needs a couple of criminals Im pretty sure he had #10 foremost in his mind :)

It would be the ultimate irony if Blake brings back Lucic and gets fired for it like Dean did.

All those teams you listed as beating us, we beat at least twice this season. They all caught us at the right time two weeks ago, nothing more. Skinner stood on his head in both games. The VGK game was an anomaly.

As for Nicolas Deslauriers, he signed a 4 year / $7,000,000 contract to be a slightly better version McEwen playing 8-10 min a night. So where's that extra cap space coming from? You sign him, you can't afford the actual guys you need to resign like Andersen and others. Then in two years you're stuck with a 35 year old washed up fighter paying nearly 2 mil a year to sit in the pressbox to avoid the buyout penalty.

Exactly. I'm all for making a team tougher, but Nic Deslauries sucks. He makes the team worse, not better.

Exactly, there are better cheaper versions of him. He got paid like that in Philly because that their orgs identity, and will always be. They overpay for tough guys to feed their fanbase.

It's difficult to find players nowadays that provide size and toughness while also being good hockey players.

I liked Mason Marchment a lot in the offseason, but I realize you'd have to overpay, and he doesn't really work cap-wise when we need an LHD.

I cringed when Kempe squared up with Miller but when he made it through without getting his bell rung I was glad he did it. That dude was chasing him the whole night and it almost happened prior to that. My highlight of the night was the Durzi golf clap on the way to the box. Can someone put that into a GIF? I don't have access to replays or I would. I'm assuming they showed that on TV as I was at the game. I thought Durzi handled himself well in his fight. Say what you want about Durzi's play he's been willing to stand up for himself and the team. He is one of the few who will do it.

Took my wife's special needs adult cousin tonight and he had a blast. He had never been to Staples before. He had never been to a hockey game before. I was talking to him on Easter and I asked him if we would want to go and his eyes lit up so I scored us some wheelchair PR seats. I didn't know until we got there but we didn't have to search out for the handicap seats. They will accommodate you at guest services in case that has prevented anyone from taking someone to a game. The usher in that section got all four of us sitting together after the first period so big ups to that fellow! I haven't really been as emotionally invested in hockey games since the Kings won their last Cup and while I was bummed out the Kings were having a hard time scoring last night my wfie's cousin was having the time of his life which was awesome.

Of all the things that need addressing , toughness on the bottom line is going to be near the bottom of the list. But it still needs to be fixed. Gav and Korpo will be getting big raises, with Gav probably long term starting at 5-7 mil x 7. I hope the other players wives have been showing his how great it is to live in the warm south bay.
