I don’t recall but would the Kings still have to pay him if they used their compliance buyout on him? I know it wouldn’t count towards the cap.

This cannot be linked to anything provable, but story goes:

The reason Lombardi won the case with the league was due to the language in the CBA that didn't differentiate between the eligibility of buyouts of "injured" players from those entered in the wellness program. Dean argued Richards wasn't eligible for the compliance buyout, but should have been since Richards left the program without informing the team.

Allegedly. Can't confirm because its Richards HIPPA rights to publicly discuss his health issues. Allegedly.

I was going to make that comparison last game, but Frolov had a decent scoring touch :P

Pretty much.

Yeah, Frolov was a board and possession master, but he had a good nose for the net and could get that wrister through.
Yeah frolov also had a really solid shot from the dots as well. He was just addicted to wrap arounds. But he was super strong on the puck. We will be extremely lucky if Byfield can become half of Frolov lol

He is 100% the most under appreciated Kings winger of all time.

God damn, this roster could use some Fro.
I’d have to agree with that. Frolov was potting 30+ goals while being a possession monster with a really good shot.

And he was extremely consistent

And that was in the dead puck era too. Frolov was an expert along the wall and on the forecheck, with terrific version.
He was the epitome of “All steak, no sizzle”

Made an 70pt season in the dead puck look pedestrian. It was a shame to watch him give up on the NHL after leaving LA.

While we can definitely say that Byfields confidence is yet again low as usual, it’s not really a good sign of his mental fortitude that he always seems to be in his feelings. Mentally fragile players are the worst and he gives me those vibes.

Big boys always are the most fragile.

Gotta hope he can find a little bit of tenacity somewhere, because the physical tools are abundant.

He does give those vibes a bit.. like with the panic flip the puck for delay of game last game when he plenty of time and space. He's really deferential - and some of that is playing w guys like Kopi and Kempe.. but id like to see his balls drop nice and low dragging on the ice vs up tight inside his body

The next time someone complains we aren't hard enough on our young players/we're homers for Kings prospects I'm going to point them towards this thread that is 1/2 motherf***ing a guy that has 6 points in his last 7 games and has the top line humming along at a 70%+ GF% as one of the best lines in the league

like it's one thing to say he's still developing and we want more but it's quite another to talk about how much he sucks when the above is going on, get a f***ing grip

I mean between all this and the shittalking/downplaying Roy, I hate playing the "you've clearly never played card" but some people clearly have absolutely zero clue what makes for 'effective' hockey.

No wonder Roy's social media accounts had to be scrubbed, his folks are straight out of whitebread central.
