I'm not one to blame external factors but it was very clear that the ice went from bad to horrible. Nobody in either team could handle the puck by the second period. Guys falling all over the place. It looked like a men's league game. Sure you can levy criticism.. mine was that they kept trying to make plays as if the ice was normal and passing instead of just shooting.

Don't want to play the "I know how to ice skate" card but it was pretty obvious how bad the ice was for both teams.

And that is why you simplify and just stick to the basics. TMac and his staff/players could have done better to adjust to the ice.

Sure could've done that and still failed. They didn't and it's not like they competition figured it out either. Getting your players to adjust to system or strategy isn't the same as adjusting to playing conditions which are common in outdoor sports like football etc. That's a common variable for those sports not hockey. Not to this degree. Either way, no reason to get upset when that was clearly a factor and the fact he kings have been playing well consistently for a while now.

bugs me that only goal NSH scored was on a suspect penalty PP.. another thing is in these tight checking games this one and v minne Kings came up short. I think they need to change their style more when these kind of games evolve.. go more north south / dump and chase and grind it out.

Doughty couldn't handle the puck tonight either. Perhaps one thing that would help Byfield handle the puck better is to put him out there in a high pressure situation where handling the puck is crucial which might improve his skills

In tight situations absolutely, in free flowing end to end he does not handle the puck well
