Good teams are the result of a bunch of players emerging and/or being acquired in a relatively short time frame.

And that's what's happened here.

Emerged/emerging:
Vilardi
Kempe
Roy
Anderson
Byfield

Added from the outside:
Fiala
Danault
Moore
Arvidsson
Gavrikov

That's a lot of players in a relatively short period of time.

They only started playing great hockey after they got goaltending and an LD. They haven’t been playing great hockey until recently. They’re only +8 in goal differential. The Kings have become a good team recently. They were sucking, they were playing bad hockey, bad coaching, trades were made, now they’re playing good hockey. Do you think Todd is suddenly a good coach because his line up choices were stupid before the trade and they’re stupid now. Are you going to lend credit to Todd or the players we have now?

Stop being so dense. Lol if you think Todd suddenly learned be a better coach around the same time trades were made then there’s no hope for you. Your simplistic understanding of hockey is not the way I see it. Only a few games ago Durzi was closing out Pks on the first unit near the end of the game. Same guy who’s been playing Edler. Same guy who’s been putting the worst Dmen. The same guy who’s actively let his team collapse numerous times. The same coach who’s got reverse swept in a rare feat.

Are you going to pretend that the Kings are a very good team due to Todd or because the Kings have a good team. And if Todd, tell me do you think the Kings would be in a playoff spot without Fiala?
This isn't a Kings team that has been good recently, it's been 3 months.

Not going to bother, you think he's a clown and that's fine.

I’m happy with where the Kings are now, but just because the Kings are doing good has nothing to do with the fact Kaliyev being scratched is good. Bjornfot being scratched is good. One does not negate the other. There’s always room for improvement.

They just recently got into the + in goal differential. You’re dreaming.

That, I fully agree with.

But at the same token, it's a guy on our 4th line and a 3rd pairing defenseman. Lambasting a coach over that when the team is 23-8-3 in their last 34 games just seems strange to me.

I am not lambasting. You were riding the koala for some reason and acting like just because the Kings are winning that those scratches are fine.

Seattle lost at least

Oh absolutely, all teams are going to have concerns except for maybe the ridiculous Bruins. This team started slowly, but look at the goal differential and regulation wins since mid-December:

34 games - 18 ROWs, 5 OT wins. +16 goal differential. Those ROW's are right there with the Devils, Oilers, Lightning, Avalanche - teams that have been on good streaks. Tied for 8th best goal differential over that period.

If anything that looks pretty damn sweet going towards the playoffs, can't think of a better time to turn it on than down the stretch.

Yeah, it is definitely better to be turning it on down the stretch. I still have my concerns about the team, but the team has a high end 1C and 1D and if there is enough depth around them they can carry the team.

2 of these for 2 points!

So if the Kings are a good team, and TM should not get any credit, does that mean Rob Blake should get the kudos?

By the way, the Kings, yes, are +8 for the year. They're also, coincidentally, +8 since the trades.
TM doesn't appear to have changed anything but we did get roster changes, so yeah I think Blake, right now, is deserving of some credit. And keep in mind, Durzi was taken away from TM through injury.

The only issue I have right now with McLellan is MacEwen, and i guess it goes to Blake too. This guy sucks as a hockey player, can’t skate, can’t shoot, can’t pass. He’s got a busted jaw so he can’t even fight. Why is he in the lineup? I agree Kaliyev wasn’t looking hot but I rather have JAD or Grundstrom in there.

Makes me wonder if Lemieux was a locker room issue or wanted to be closer to home/family (no idea where that is). Just very shocked by that trade.

In addition to being the son of Claude Lemieux, Brendan is the nephew of NHL player Jocelyn Lemieux, who was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft.[22] Both Brendan and Claude are nicknamed "Pepe", a pun on their surname and on the cartoon character of Pepe Le Pew.[86] In addition to his younger sister Claudia,[4] he has two half-siblings from his father's previous marriage. Although the Lemieux family is of Canadian heritage, Brendan is an American citizen.[87]

If you could, remind me of all the regular season accolades the TM-era sharks collected, and couple them with the playoff success those teams saw.

Or didn’t see.
He's definitely choked a lot in the playoffs.

I remember Sutter coaching some good SJ teams, who also choked in the playoffs. And Calgary too, they went to the finals and were really good the next season. Choked again. Hell, I remember his first year coaching when the Kings went to the finals way back when. I figured if they won the Smythe they would get smoked by Chicago, they were dominant and the best in the conference. Pulverized in the first round by 4th place St. Louis.

TM doesn't have a great track record in the playoffs, but neither did Sutter and he coached some damn good teams. Finally won on his 11th try. Todd's on his 8th, think of it as being due.
