I can’t say that I have any sort of decent candidate to nominate for a replacement, but I truthfully hope that Todd gets Terry Murray’d hard as a motherf***er this season.

The more time that passes, the more it becomes clear that he is simply a systems coach who is a stepping stone for the success of this organization.

I know Blake is loyal to his guys, but how long until we see a move here? Trade, AHL demotion, anything.

Just brushing off the cobwebs to chime in here. Oh Gawd The Defense Sucks! Every game so far they let people out skate, out hustle, out muscle, out smart our defense. Look how easy they enter our zone. Kings D playing flag football in front of the net and along the boards. Nobody gets sent on their asses and practically our D welcomes an all out sausage fest into our crease! I mean Petersen's been bad. But, this defense is atrocious!

Petersen:
2022-23 3gp // .842% SV% // 4.97 GAA

Cloutier:
2006-07 24gp // .860 SV% // 3.98 GAA
2007-08 9gp // .887 SV% // 3.43 GAA

Aubin:
2007-08 19gp // .886 SV% // 3.19 GAA

Fuhr:
1994-95 4gp // 0.876 SV% // 4.04 GAA

Fiset:
2000-01 7gp // .853 SV% // 3.58 GAA

Stauber:
1992-93 31gp // .888 SV% // 3.84 GAA

Storr:
1994-95 5gp // .888 SV% // 3.88 GAA

Petersen is giving me feelings of nostalgia. He's putting himself in rarified air.

Todd is still an issue.

Goaltending department needs a new Bill Ranford prodigy pupil yesterday.

But it's still too early for me to have as much apocalyptic forecast as some of you. This is and 82 game season and time has shown us again and again that it's mostly a rollercoaster ride.
Goalie coaching is not the problem. Cal Petersen is a bust and Blake never should have awarded him that $5 million per year contract! Kings draft scouting for goaltending sucks! After Quick/Jones, the Kings haven't been good drafting goalies. They should trade Petersen for a bad contract back in return. Copley can platoon with Quick.

06'07 Cloutier will be hard to beat. Not many goalies last long enough to get over 20 games with that save percentage. Lets see if CP can take down Dan (worst Kings goalie ever) Cloutier.. I think he has a good chance.

Jones wasn't drafted by the Kings, and he's not good anyways.

Quick is really the only legit #1 goaltender the Kings have drafted and developed that I can think of. Unless we're counting Billy Smith.

It's hard to find many stretches of Kings goaltending in the modern era that's been worse than what we've seen from Cal thus far.

Adam Hauser and Daniel Taylor I'm not counting because they played one game only.

Fukufuji:
2006-07 4gp // .837 SV% // 4.37 GAA

Yutaka is really the only goalie I can think of that had a worse stretch. BTW, Fukufuji is still playing according to Elite Prospects. He plays for the Nikko Icebucks.

Thats some elite shitty goaltending right there, top of the class.

Bring back Dusty Imoo. Goalies in the system were performing better when he was around.
Dusty was so good at "developing" goalies that he couldn't get a job in the NHL. He had to go to the KHL to be a goaltending coach for a Chinese KHL team.

I have on good reference that he got paid a ridiculous amount of money to go to China so take it for what it’s worth. A friend of ours played for the reign and keeps I touch with a lot of guys.

Hawks are tanking I think, so how about a deal of Petersen for Mrazek? Mrazek makes $1.2 million less and is only 2 years older than Petersen. Blake can throw in a pick or mid level prospect to make the trade worth it. If Mrazek gets injured at all, you can put him on IR, call up Copley and not lose him on waivers if he's sent back down.

Funny thing is that Quick was drafted by Taylor. Even Lombardi sucked at drafting goalies for all the talk of building from the net out.

Danault had 1 defensive zone faceoff against Pitt to go along with 4 o zone and 5 neutral zone faceoffs. I just don't understand why he is not being used in a more defensive role to allow Kopi to take advantage of more offensive opportunities. why sign a defensive center into his late 30's if you are just going to use him in offensive roles?

It would be nearly impossible to bring back Imoo these days, given the reasons he was ousted from Toronto's organization.

Oops, not trying to imply ranford was a problem quite the opposite.

Eh… very weird scoreline that didn’t reflect the game. If I was a King’s fan I’d be saying “f*** the hockey Gods, moving on”.
It would be nice to move on, but the problem is still going to be there.

What's more important? Signing E. Kane or not going for the playoffs?

Sorry for my ignorance but who is "RV" people keep referencing? Am I just having a mental lapse and forgetting someone with those initials?

That being said, Penguins had no right leading 3-0 after the first. Kind of set the tone for the rest of the game. Kings were easily the better team most of the night outside of goaltending.
