Doughty literally played over 30 minutes. Chill Todd.
He did, but 7+ of that was on the powerplay so not as terrible as it sounds. There was OT too. Drew was pretty fantastic on D tonight, he always elevates against Josi.

On the bright side, Kopitar only on the ice for 21:27 in an OT game with 7:34 of PP time. The worst thing about all those penalties is it saps Byfields time on ice. Hopefully they start working him in on the PP, giving Danault a break.

You make a good point regarding the minutes. You also made a good point in showing why our power play sucks!

Ressurected.

It feels like this team hasn't put it all together, but they're still competitive. That's a good sign.

The sloppiness and bad team D can be fixed as the season goes on.

This forward group has lots of potential. It's an interesting mix of players.

Some narratives are carrying over from last season. Can't win at home or in the division, but eek out gutsy wins in non-division road games. Special teams also not clicking.

Can't wait until we lose 4-1 at home to the Sharks.

Doughty had the 9th best P/60 on the powerplay last season among defensemen with at least 100 minutes last season.
Was more talking about Kopitar. That being said last year is last year. There are some great options on the power play that deserve more time both at forward and defense. A more equitable division of minutes isn't a bad idea. Especially with his wrist still being swollen according to the Kings announcers. That's got to have some impact on passing and shooting. I'm a big Drew Doughty fan and defended him when folks thought he was cooked. So this isn't some hating.

Who on the team is better than Doughty and Kopitar? Do you want Danault as the number 1 center on the powerplay? He has 17 career powerplay points, Kopitar had 22 just last season. Byfield? He has a ton of potential, but also has 14 career points in 51 games. I just don't see who else would be on the number 1 powerplay unit.

As for the defense, I guess you could argue Durzi, but Dewey still performed better than him last season. Clarke is exciting as shit, but he has yet to pick up a point yet in the NHL.

I do think minutes could be spread better, but ripping Doughty and Kopi is just not right. The guy you should be complaining about is Danault getting any minutes on the powerplay.

Well Vilardi is tied with Stamkos and MacKinnon for fourth in the league in scoring, one point ahead of Connor McDavid, just like we all predicted.

Kempe and Kopitar are just behind him too, 3 forwards in the top 16 in scoring is pretty cool

Watched the Detroit game and just watched the highlights of this game.
Byfield is starting to ... just starting to hint at the kind of big, swift, strong skating all-around center he could become.
Vilardi's skill and hands... look great. His top end speed is below average. But he also shows good agility and can be elusive behind the net and in tight spaces.

What's going on with Turcotte?

You're taking a joke throw away comment entirely too serious.

Eh, people have been ripping Kopi and Doughty way too much. Kopi is over a point per game right now. Doughty has the 2nd best CF% Rel just behind Lemeiux, despite logging the most minutes against the top competition. They both have been damn good(though Vilardi has been our best player by far).

Just finished watching.

we now have a new answer for the last time Peterson made a big save because he made several time out before the shoot out. Yep a couple he’d want back but he should have a big boost of confidence now. It’s been between the ears for him, it always was but he needs to keep this up.

As for QB and Vilardi, they were outstanding. Nice for Matt ‘Bobby Orr’ Roy to net a pair too.

It might not have been very pretty but the Kings have won 3 in a row. Still lots of areas that can improve so hopefully they can keep pace, sort the problems out and take some steps forward this season.

VilardI: Any word on an extension?
Agent: There’s a deal on the table. However, can you keep this up?
Vilardi: Yes. I got this.
Agent: Great, by the end of the year the price will have doubled. I’ve put the contract in the shredder.

For the record -- Cal is a perfect 2 and 0.

Cal let in a stoppable shot on the first shot of the game. He also let in a potentially backbreaking softie goal in the last minute of the second period - yet, we just saw the best game of goaltending we've seen all season.

Says a lot about the defensive play and goaltending we've seen this year so far.

He did a good job shutting the door in the 3rd period, OT and shootout though.

Will also say that was Clarke's worst game, but his potential is there.

He really needs to be on the Powerplay regularly. He has that attacking mindset - note he was the one in front of the net for Roy's second goal; the only one who didn't get a point on the play.

Two holding penalties, almost the same exact type of play. Got outworked/outmuscled along the boards and had to use his stick/free arm to keep up. Will happen more times this season, sure, but that's the experience you need to get up to NHL speed.

Really impressed with his transition game. Not really making any direct comparisons to Makar, but I was watching some clips of his and that team generates an incredible amount of offense just because of his ability to turn the puck back up the ice and join the rush. Doughty used to do it a lot more, but I think this is where Clarke will really shine. He's staying with the big club.

Gabe is DIALED right now.

Happy to see cal string some saves together too, that’s gotta do wonders for his confidence.
