Cant speak for KP nor do I need to- but the combo of watching his play style in Ontario and getting his first NHL point last night as a 22 year old rookie maybe just gives some evidence the kid might be an NHLer.
that fine and we are all on pins and needles waiting for your valued assessment. For those of us who follow the Reign- you get a clear idea of Fagemos skillset and how it may transition at the NHL level; last night a small step into what many of us discussed prior to his call up. Maybe a better conversation for people who consistently watch the prospect playing in Ontario.
Yeah- and the people who follow the reign and made the Fagemo assertions are also the same ones far and wide who assessed Lias looks to be a tweener- too good for AHL and not good enough for NHL. Who proclaimed Andersson as a future member of the bottom 6? If you cant point that out your comment here is meaningless.

Not sure what the context is, as I have the person on ignore. Since you mentioned first point, I assume it's what I said about Fagemo?

I don't know what's wrong with what I said. It wasn't a criticism of Fagemo. I've said for years of watching him, including this year, that I thought he could develop to be an effective third line player. That's good. Teams need those.

He scores many goals, but his goal-scoring prowess is overstated. He's a volume shooter. His mindset will help keep teams hemmed in their zone. But his other skills aren't gamebreaking. He lacks top-end speed to be the north-south player he plays as. But he plays disciplined hockey, where he doesn't take unnecessarily risky plays - but at the same time doesn't have the defensive sense or prowess physically (either through skating or physical tools) to shut down players.

He's a slower, more disciplined version of Kempe.

I know I'm harsher on my assessment to him than others are, and maybe I'll be wrong as I have been other times. But yes, I see Fagemo more as a third-line player. But I also was complimenting the coaching staff for putting him in a role suited for him.

But yes, I've watched games of him since he was drafted. Including in the Champions League (European Hockey's equivalent of soccer's Premier League, I think) when he played for Frölunda. It wasn't just today's game, it wasn't just watching 5 games of him in the NHL. It wasn't even just from watching him in the AHL.

Regarding Andersson, I'll fess up and say I also think Andersson can be a good bottom-six player, but for different reasons. He plays with edge and makes a living battling in front of the net. I still think he's underestimated by a lot here.

I would respond to you, but apparently you have me on ignore. So lucky you, I guess.

Yeah....if you have them on ignore its probably for the best- and note was nothing major other than trying to be edgy with assessing Fagemos play after his first game of the season. Those of us who regularly watch and follow the Reign are more educated and well versed on players and style above those who simply see Fagemo as "new guy" or "prospect."

Package Durzi while you can. Spence plays better D and better decision making, Durzi probably gets offensive edge but can you afford an Offensive specialist in Todays NHL? I like Durzi and his passion....but ZERO trust in his defensive ability and awareness.
This clip illustrates his lack of skating ability watch Fischer pull away noticeably.. when u add it all up on the ledger the liabilities outweight the assets and when u factor in Spence and Clark its obvious he needs to be dealt (along w Walker)

'Edgy'....ooh, good one. Fagemo has played 5 NHL games, I've seen them all. I HOPE he develops into a real player, but nothing I've seen so far has assured me of that to the point where I'm certain he's going to be great bottom 6 player. That is all...but if you guys are the experts, I guess there's nothing more that needs to be said.

I think this is bang on. Sammy is like a seagull, not particularly great at anything but can adapt to just about anything. His skills are a 7 across the board, nothing really bad but not top end either.

To me he's the epitome of a "safe" player who won't hurt you, but won't particularly help you a lot either. He 's still young though, so it's not too late for something to click where he takes a step forward. I think at a minimum he carves out a career in the bottom 6 somewhere.

When you have expectations, and things aren't working, that's usually the formula for a firing.

I don't know if it will happen, but I'd put the odds above 50% if things don't turn around fairly soon.
Think a few people don’t realize that being the most porous team in the NHL is a good way to get you fired. Being in 3rd place in an echl division doesn’t mean you’re a good team, just means you’re operating in lucky circumstances.

I really think it's all mental for Kempe. Someone should spike his Gatorade or something. If he plays like he's on a mission, he can't be stopped. I think we all saw that last year when he was single-handedly winning us games in overtime.

I don't think that's true - if anything it just proves that he's still capable of that kind of quality game. Despite everything that's happened thus far, Kopitar has 21 points in 26 games and is second on the team in scoring. That's a far cry from a liability.

Feels like just yesterday when Kopitar was putting less points but was playing his best hockey, and all of us were trying to convince uninformed casual fans that his game is much more than points. Now in the present day we’re using points to ignore the fact he’s playing his worst hockey of his career. Being carried by Vilardi, Fiala, and a ton of ice time. What a 180.

Wasnt it predictable? 2 LD one being Edler and Durzi in your second pair.. i believe most of us thought that was suicidal.. I have to point at Blake for most of this. I said beginning of the year to waive Walker get him to the A and look to move Durzi... then i heard Walker was just being showcased.. well you burned 1/4 of the year showcasing a guy that can maybe get you a 4th round pick vs cutting bait and getting your d-pairs settled. The fascination w Durzi is also not understandable when you have Spence and Clarke nipping at the heels.

I think most fans realize that the Kings at best are stagnating from last year. We were 23rd in defense and now they’re 30th. And goaltending got worse. I think it’s generous to say the Kings stagnated because you can make a good argument they’re going behind.

Yes we all said Kopi and DD are regressing each year and wont be replaced anytime soon.. so its a bit of a losing but foreseeable battle there. Also we all said that D and Goalie were giant holes not addressed (not saying there were deals that couldve been made)..So i wasnt at all surprised by the outcome... Im ok with a regression if its moving in the right direction next year and the year after. Edit: im ok with regression in the standings, not in the right rebuild/deployent/team direction.

I agree. He has the skillet/tools to be an NHLer. I just don't think he has a discernible skill or two which slots him cleanly in the top-six. And that's okay.

That's fair and unsurprising. Thanks for falling on the grenade to engage them.

Durzi was basically laying on the ice try to get up as Fischer went by him. Even Makar ain't catching him having to start from that position. While he's not the fastest, he can get better. He's has barely played 87 games and still has tons to learn. Right now no one else can score from the blueline. When Spence and Clark prove they can put up 40-50 points a year, then you trade him.

Durzi is a perfect bottom pairing defenseman. Great on the PP. One of the best offensive talents we’ve had on the blueline in years.

His issues have always come down to utilization, which hey, looks like another f***ing coaching problem to me.

You only trade Durzi if you have an objectively better version of him ready to go, ala Johnson supplanted by Voynov.

How many strides do estimate it takes a skater to get to full speed?

From a standing position, McDavd. 1 , Makar 4 .

Durzi was screwed either way because VA's pass was so bad all he did was slow it down by diving at it. The pass was to an open space and the player just had to skate into, It's a clear breakawy even if Durzi doesn't touch it.

haha..yes agreed. My point was not that SD could/should catch him..it was even at full speed the AZ dude was pulling away. Ie Durzi skating which everyone said was his biggest weakness was on full display.

The Kopitar Defense Force is out in full swing today after he took the puck to the net for the first time 25 games into the season against a tanking Arizona Coyotes.
Or it could be he stepped up his game after a closed door team meeting , like the captain should , to try and right the ship, and I am one that is definitely on the kopi defense force simply out of respect for the guy , I know in your “ What have you done lately “ world that’s not enough but since that first home game against the ducks he has been a joy to watch playing both close to a point a game offense and Selke level defense. I don’t believe he should play both PP and PK or lead the start on OT anymore but pretty sure that’s not his call and I am very sure that when he is tapped he goes because he is a gamer and with due respect to 16 and 99 the best center to play for the kings in my 47 years of going to games here
