Cant speak for KP nor do I need to- but the combo of watching his play style in Ontario and getting his first NHL point last night as a 22 year old rookie maybe just gives some evidence the kid might be an NHLer.
that fine and we are all on pins and needles waiting for your valued assessment. For those of us who follow the Reign- you get a clear idea of Fagemos skillset and how it may transition at the NHL level; last night a small step into what many of us discussed prior to his call up. Maybe a better conversation for people who consistently watch the prospect playing in Ontario.
Yeah- and the people who follow the reign and made the Fagemo assertions are also the same ones far and wide who assessed Lias looks to be a tweener- too good for AHL and not good enough for NHL. Who proclaimed Andersson as a future member of the bottom 6? If you cant point that out your comment here is meaningless.
Not sure what the context is, as I have the person on ignore. Since you mentioned first point, I assume it's what I said about Fagemo?
I don't know what's wrong with what I said. It wasn't a criticism of Fagemo. I've said for years of watching him, including this year, that I thought he could develop to be an effective third line player. That's good. Teams need those.
He scores many goals, but his goal-scoring prowess is overstated. He's a volume shooter. His mindset will help keep teams hemmed in their zone. But his other skills aren't gamebreaking. He lacks top-end speed to be the north-south player he plays as. But he plays disciplined hockey, where he doesn't take unnecessarily risky plays - but at the same time doesn't have the defensive sense or prowess physically (either through skating or physical tools) to shut down players.
He's a slower, more disciplined version of Kempe.
I know I'm harsher on my assessment to him than others are, and maybe I'll be wrong as I have been other times. But yes, I see Fagemo more as a third-line player. But I also was complimenting the coaching staff for putting him in a role suited for him.
But yes, I've watched games of him since he was drafted. Including in the Champions League (European Hockey's equivalent of soccer's Premier League, I think) when he played for Frölunda. It wasn't just today's game, it wasn't just watching 5 games of him in the NHL. It wasn't even just from watching him in the AHL.
Regarding Andersson, I'll fess up and say I also think Andersson can be a good bottom-six player, but for different reasons. He plays with edge and makes a living battling in front of the net. I still think he's underestimated by a lot here.
