I mean, sure the team defense is trash, but I think Cal is just gone mentally. They are hoping for a miracle at this point that he comes back from next offseason and is suddenly better. He KNOWS he can't do it and I am afraid that he may never shake it.

I challenge anyone to find me a clip of a goalie give up more egregiously in the last 15 years.
 
Can anyone see Cal lifting the cup...get real. We need an overhaul from between the pipes to the blueline then some.

Because the premise of your argument is flawed. A great defense makes an average goalie look better than they are. And a great goalie makes an average defense look good.

Our goaltending is awful. And our defense is borderline mediocre. So I think a very good defense would logically not stop the soft shit that Cal let’s in. However a prime Roy would help make the Kings a lot better.
 
Cals gaffe monumental. Tmac still has a team that is losing winnable games. To me- thats a coach that has lost the team. There have been probably 4 or 5 games that should have at least gone to OT that resulted in losses and thats a coach that is no longer able to focus on the smaller details.

Maybe Im just looking for a whipping boy but the average NHL coaching life span is 2.4 seasons....TMac into his 4th season. Just sayin'...

There’s no redemption arc for Petersen for me. No one can come up for me again from just giving up like that. There’s no shot. If Blake has balls he curbs him tomorrow.

My premise is that no goaltender is going to make this roster truly competitive, and a great goaltender is only going to mask the glaring issues facing this roster.

Neither goalie on the roster has been good, but cal hasn’t been the worst. Chalk it up to one of many problems that need addressed, that won’t be in good time.
