Squeaked one out against a crap team.
Detroit's not bad, really. Coming into tonight they were 2nd in their division in point percentage, ahead of Toronto and Florida. Had they gotten a point they would still be there.

Best game I've ever seen Durzi play tonight.

Personally I think you’ve earned the right to advertise your content as much as you wish. Your content is valuable and informative, I think most of us appreciate what you do and fully understand you can’t go in certain directions with your questions. It’s not actually your fault that the independent coverage isn’t as engaged as we’d all like - I’m sure you share that view.
I frequently tell Zach Dooley in the press box "Here's a question I wish SOMEONE would ask but I know nobody will... "

I’m not a Durzi advocate but given his strengths and weaknesses I think the left side is the best place for him. Firstly in the offensive zone it definitely helps because his angle to shoot and move the puck will give him more options, as it does with forwards in their off wing.

Defensively his game means I‘d prefer Spence in the lineup, but…. His flaws are his flaws and they aren’t going away but by playing the off side he will have his strong stick on the inside. Given he has good puck skills he should be able to adapt to playing the puck on the off side. Having the strong stick on the inside will make protecting the middle easier (one of his flaws) and given he gets beat on the outside now and then anyway I don’t think it’ll be worse.

Essentially I don’t think he will be better or worse defensively but I may give him more offensive opportunities. Tonight is one game so I’m drawing no conclusions from it but this is a view I’ve held for a while. If a righty can adapt to playing the puck on the left it’s Durzi, as it is something that plays to his strengths.

Great game by Durzi. Looks like he actually got to get some practice in. It's a big reason why I thought he would be a good fit on the left side, especially on the powerplay.

That first goal by Petersen was pretty shaky, but he recovered well.

Also interesting to note is the Kings currently have 7 players with double-digit points. Only Vegas has more (many teams only have 3-5).

Nice to see a couple helpers from one-trick-Poniyev.

8th best pts% in the league. 4th best since Oct 15.

It is more than okay. Though we did not have a real rough schedule so far. Lots of games LA also had to win.

The games vs Vegas, Washington, Pittsburgh & Dallas we all lost and some badly. The only real failure was the loss vs. Seattle. LA outplayed Chicago & Winnipeg (two defeats).

Gotta give credit for also winning the games vs the teams who are worse on paper.

Two games I would like to point out as very good; the wins vs. Tampa & Toronto.

To me this is the conclusion so far.

The Athletic rated the Kings between the 5th and 10th most difficult schedule thus far believe it or not.

It looks like the opposition has figured out that the best way to beat the passive diamond penalty kill isn't the cross ice pass but the freaking one timer fed from behind the net right in front of the goaltender. Someday this team will have top half of the league special teams again. Then they would be cooking with fire.

As a member of the organization I have more opportunities and more limitations than I did when I was independent but my personal goal remains the same so I am disappointed in my own efforts when I hear they are failing someone.
Failing someone? The same people who are probably convinced you are a member of the 'evil empire' since you work for the org?

Think about it, the audience you are concerned about believe in concepts like...

- The Kings org is set on ruining prospect development, therefore unable to develop a top-6 forward...
- Last season was a fluke...
- Kevin Fiala has not made this team better...
- Brock Faber is better hockey player than Kevin Fiala despite Faber never playing and NHL minute...
- Quinton Byfield is a bust...
- Kopitar is no longer a 1st line player and his holding his linemates back...
- The PP woes from last season would be solved by removing Marco Sturm...

I could go on all day, you get the idea. Basically, don't lose any sleep over it...lol.

Don't undersell what Lemieux has brought to this team.

Many games last year he was impactful both in terms of agitation and on-ice play. And that 4th line has been great at times.

People have short memories.

And honestly there are a couple of surprises in there if you look at the standings. Winnipeg is actually tied for 1st in the Central as is Dallas who oddsmakers have pretty high on Cup contenders.

Losing pepe hurts, I'm sure of it.

Yeah, as mostly average as he has been, you can't replace chemistry, and he brings a unique f*** you element.

Can 'replace' him with Kupari or JAD or even Thomas and you'll have a more talented player but not necessarily a better fit, plus we're about to go to a bunch of pissy canadian teams with veterans.

I have liked the team's compete as a whole though so hope they keep that up.

Fiala is gonna PISS some Oilers OFF

The biggest takeaway from last night, those jerseys look even better on the ice.

Fox/Faust also seemed to prefer it to the current ones.

My only hope is the rest of the org agrees

It's the transition to a new era, let's do it. The minimalist 2010s are over.
