That overtime was so action-packed at the end that I didn't even notice the game clock and that it was essentially a buzzer beater. When the announcer mentioned that there was only 1.4 seconds left I was like what.

Fiala handles the puck under pressure with an arrogance that keeps you at the edge of your seat. I know sometimes it's going to bite him but more often than not he gets away with it and causes havoc on the other end of the ice.

Loved the intelligence of Danault on the OT winner....how many players would have tried to shoot the rebound knowing the clock was about to expire? That was a smart. heady pass right there that resulted in the GW goal.

Team is one solid LH dman from being a great team.

Maybe it's just me, but past few games, it feels like Kempe is holding back, EXPECTING results to happen, instead of driving forward and making them happen,

It's a huge distinction, but it's hard for me to verbalize........but there's something definitely off in his game right now
I understand what you are saying. I think last night he was half way back to driving play.

Kempe was drunk last night.

And the analyst lady, forget her name, was pretty good. PBP guy was meh.

I thought Grundstrom was fine. He was a bull running over guys all over the place.
I'd like to actually see Kempe off the top line and put him with Fiala and Kupari/Byfield.
Cassie or Cassidy. The ladies were really good.

When Fiala has the puck you need to cut to the net because he is uncanny at waiting for the right moment to pass in the slot when you least expect it. He also has that puck protect glide that you see some of the better players use like Kane and Kucherov.

Fiala could use someone with a little more hockey IQ than Grundstrum.

Kupari is fine
When Iafallo gets back, he can take Kempe's spot with Kopi & 9, 55, 22!!!! If we ever get 55 out of the AHL healthy & Todd allows for some fun.

Kempe hasn't been getting the breakaways & challenging D with speed this year. Maybe teams with more regulars in the lineup are cutting down on mistakes. Could be the defense not transitioning the puck to the forwards as well. Last year King's had Durzi, Spence, Björnfot. This year they have a bunch of guys coming off injury that aren't playing as well. Could be adapting to new linemates like Fiala & Vilardi where Kempe isn't the primary threat option on the line.

Linda Cohn with the worst phony bite of cake I've ever seen. Do these people think we are idiots?
To me, it looked like she was trying to get a bigger piece on her fork, but it wasn't happening. Instead of wasting more air time, she just ate what little she was able to get. Thankfully, with the win in OT, that's all I feel the need to comment on. :hockey:

I liked how loud and enthusiastic the crowd was on the OT goal. The crowds at Crypto/Staples have been pretty weak in recent years.
A lot of the fans that stick around and aren't die hards are probably cup fans who know very well our rivalry with the Hawks. I know I personally hate P Kane and love seeing him lose

Cohn asked Fiala - you won 3 in a row, what's going so right? Fiala looked stunned and didnt know what to say

There's a reason the Minny fans called Fiala a himbo

The PP and PK is a shambles. 5x5 they are doing ok. Fiala could use someone with a little more hockey IQ than Grundstrum and Kupari. Maybe slot in Kaliyev there. Thats the only adjust I can think of with this group.

It's feeling so, so much like last year right now...

I totally agree, he has less of the Fiala mentality that he had earlier this season, the confidence/arrogance with the puck as well as the drive are both missing.

Lets not forget AI is hurt and Byfield was sick with whatever he was sick with.

I'd really like to see Iafallo-Byfield-Vilardi reunited but that would make Kopitar close to worthless. At least there are a lot of parts to move around there--Fiala, Kempe, Iafallo, Vilardi for Kopitar and Byfield. Even Grundstrom may work in there a bit, he's worked well with Byfield in the past.

Maybe something like
Iafallo-Kopitar-Vilardi
Moore-Danault-Arvy
Fiala-Byfield-Kempe

But I feel like Kopitar-Vilardi do need a speedster of some sort to create chaos so that's tough. Hopefully Iafallo comes back as strong as he was to start the season...

I think it'd be overly looking at results to say the Powerplay isn't better than last year. They look deadly and dynamic a lot of the time, it's just not going in. Less hopeless and more one too many passes IMO

Oh no I agree, I think there are some positive signs.

I meant more of the crush the game at even strength but struggle because of special teams results thing.

If you recall last year we were the only non-lottery team that had BOTH PK and PP in the bottom tier. Most teams were at least great at one or the other if not both.

We are currently 19th on the PK so that's better, but near last on the PP again. IF we aren't gonna get the PP going, the PK needs to be near league best again...but that comes down to the team identity.
