Makes me wonder if the front office sees something that’s causing him to struggle that they want to work with him directly on rather than letting his confidence deteriorate by continuing to struggle in the CHL

You might be correct about him struggling (source needed), but I didn't think he was struggling. He's improved since the start of the season. I've been tracking our prospects throughout the season. The last games Swift Current played were Dec 17th, Dec 30th, and Dec 31st. Gage played Dec 17th. On Dec 30th, Anaheim signed and assigned him to San Diego, which means he couldn't play in the last two games for the Broncos.

I don't see a confidence issue. Alexander has posted above .900 for the Winnipeg Ice org (0.917 two seasons ago and 0.911 last season). Swift Current didn't make the playoff cut last year, but this season they are in 8th today with as many as 4 games in-hand for some teams ahead of them. Alexander is a big reason for that.

Again, you might be correct about struggling, but we can send our goalie coach out there. The Broncos are in a better situation than the Ducks. There's gotta be some other reason if the team knew Stolarz was going to return soon to the lineup.

I wish we could just jump forward to the draft right now. This season has been so painful to watch.

- I want Drysdale back so he can continue gaining experience.
- I want Klingberg gone.
- I want to know what it's going to take to lock up Z and TT to long-term contracts.
- I want to see if our bad luck holds on draft picks or if we finally live the dream.
- I want them to give Groulx a chance.
- I want to see Zell in the AHL and see how quickly he develops. Same with Hinds.
- I wonder if we'll be signing our two senior college D.
- I want to see if Verbeek will start bringing in more size and toughness.

Was hoping Vaaks might be a decent D for us. Is it just me or does the guy fumble pucks a ton? And he just doesn't seem to bring much to the table. Semi disappointing there.

*Edit* also I'm really tired of the Z-Terry pairing. Want to see a new setup.

Still at least have the trade deadline to look forward to but it will be a long couple months leading up to that point

Vaaks doesn't look like the same player as he was before his injury. He looked actually pretty competent last season. I don't know if it's the injury, or the fact that he didn't play any rehab games at all before they just threw him back into the fire, but it's pretty disappointing.

Not that he was ever going to be a stud or anything, but he looked like a reliable defensively minded #5 or so before the injury.

The team as a whole might be worse but if we sign Lacombe/Thrun and insert them into the lineup immediately to burn their ELC we'll at least have that to look forward to
Good point. That would at least provide some reason to watch (I'm finding that I'm watching less and less recently).

Yeah, pretty disappointed here as well. I've noticed some terrible decisions with the puck that didn't happen last year. But right now he looks like a player who doesn't belong in the NHL. But this team has a lot of players who look like that more often than not and the collective sucking ass certainly makes everyone look even worse.

I'm ok with giving him another season to see if and how he recovers from the possible effects of the injury he had and the mental injury that playing for such a horrible team gives.

The NCAA tournament starts from March 23, 2023 through April 8, 2023.

Anaheim has seven games in April.

Apr 1
Apr 2
Apr 5
Apr 8
Apr 9
Apr 11
Apr 13

We might get in one game or two for either one if both play in the championship NCAA tourney game on April 8th. Let's hope they both sign.

Sadly reminds me a lot of Despres. He looked so good to start and then another concussion happens and he was never the same.

I think these Top 6 lines looked good last game…

Henrique - McTavish -Terry
Zegras - Strome - Vatrano

I’m starting to wonder if having Z on the wing a good thing or bad thing. Need him to develop at C but he is not winning face offs and needs to be more responsible in his own end and stop stealing opponents sticks. :sarcasm:

I feel like it's early to give up on Z at center. He started on the wing and he really started breaking out when put at C. I feel like he's had more success at center.

I think if adds more muscle and works on his game , should be ok. I prefer he just stay at C, and try and work it out, it’s not like the Ducks focus are wins now.

Someone else pointed out that he may not be able to handle 1C, so maybe moving Z to 2nd line C after a few games (let him get some confidence/energy back at the wing). Vatrano-Z-Strome, they can pretty easily shuffle that line without affecting other lines. Leave Henrique-McTavish-Terry as the 1st line if they keep clicking.
