What’s with all the stupid going on in here?

Crying about inconsequential players when we probably have one of the better prospect pools in the league is perplexing.
We really don't. We have like a slightly above league average prospect pool at best if not outright average. Look at some of the monstrosity prospect pools that Buffalo/New Jersey/Ottawa etc or even our own mid 2010s prospect pools to see what the better ones in the league actually look like. Also hilarious seeing you call a prospect whose been as productive as Blumel the past 2 years in pro hockey "inconsequential". That means you think most of our prospect pool is inconsequential. We're in no position to be throwing away prospects like this considering how badly our cap has been mismanaged.

Blumel is inconsequential, he’s not worth anything and he wouldn’t be helping the oilers squad just like he isn’t helping the Dallas squad. He’s likely a Benson/Marody level prospect and besides we really don’t even know what happened between the player and team.

We had a stacked D pipeline with Jones Bear Marino Samorukov Niemalainen and then Broberg. Bouchard was part of that grouping too I suppose, and a few other less consequential prospects.

At the end of the day, I bet all of those guys will be playing for other orgs soon aside from Bouchard. We got back extremely little for the lot. Hopefully if the little bit of Broberg smoke is true we only move him for a big upgrade.

We are doing well now with the F pipeline, but its in exactly the same place the D pipeline used to be. Too many good prospects, no room on the big club (except the Holloway slot), no attempt to translate the picks into value, many will rot on the vine. (its not too late yet but its tracking in that direction)

Those guys were 3rd-5th round picks and the only one who looks like a home run refused to sign here so they got their pick back for him. Typical Oilers luck, but it speaks to their ability to draft and develop that all those guys are playing in the NHL except Samo who wasn’t waiver exempt and wasn’t beating anyone out and who returned a potential bottom 6 option. Guys like Jones and Bear haven’t developed significantly and did bring in needed pieces.

There’s the fans expectations of prospects and then there’s reality. Always set your expectations too high and you’ll disappoint yourself in the reality.

Two goals for Petrov tonight

He’s had a seemingly quiet start, but he has only had one game this year without a point. He’s heating up as of late. 8P (3G 5A) over his last 4GP

He’s up to 19P (7G 12A) through 13GP on the year. He’s tied for 6th in OHL scoring

We also need to stop all the bickering in here. It clouds the point of this thread which I think should remain for updates on the prospects

Really same characters doing it too.

They thrive on misery.

Right at this moment Bear looks terrible but at the time of his trade he obviously was playing much better and while in decline was expected to round back into form. Carolina didnt trade away Foegele for him because they thought he would continue to decline.

Bear showed a lot of good while he was playing for us. At the moment it looks like we actually sold high on him but lets also not kid ourselves.

Foegele is worse than i think any of us imagined as well. At the moment extremely overpriced and very hard to say even worthy of a roster spot himself.

Shit for shit where without "going on" I think Carolina is slightly ahead of us since they are only paying 400k for 1 more year of a non roster player and we got an over priced Foegele at 2.75 mill for this season and next season.
Not a chance. Bear has been on waivers
Foegele would have more points if linemates could score

I have no idea if Bear was put on waivers but I do know Foegele should be on waivers.

The chance he gets claimed is practically nill and if he did the cap savings would be worth far more than his play to date this year.

Probably lost in the Kesselring hype is Philip Kemp is off to a pretty good start too. 3 goals and 5 points through 9 games for him.

2022 5th rounder Samuel Jonsson is playing pretty well too. He's sitting at a 2.16 GAA and .908 SV% on the 2nd best team in Sweden's U20 league through 14 games.
Jonsson must've really stepped it up the last few games. When I looked at his stats a couple of weeks ago they were awful.

Potentially: Ilya Konovalov, Blumel, and Samorukov as mentioned previously.

As for actual NHL players drafted and developed by the Oilers for other teams that would be John Marino and Erik Gustafsson.

A few others of inconsequential guys we moved on from that had minor "success" elsewhere are guys like Reider, Jones, Pitlick, Paajarvi, Brodziack, and Nash.

Not as bad as I was thinking but Marino and Gustafsson were fresh on my mind after our struggles on defense for so long.
This is a list of who gives a f***. Honestly.

It's unlikely that any of Konovalov, Blumel or Samorukov have an impact NHL career. Gustafsson was never that good, Marino left after Chiarelli left so not sure how that's Holland's fault.

In other words, why are these guys even being brought up when the Oilers have a current prospect pool that is shaping up nicely?

That’s junior hockey. There’s usually a few absolutely shit teams. It’s such a cyclical league

Yeah, they were sure to take a big step back with the massive exodus of talent to the bigs. It’s a shame they couldn’t win it all last season.
