Yeah, those pads are incredibly wide and the gloves and blocker are massive.
Also, no tape on the blade of his stick.

Eddie's personal issues aside, he is a #1 goaltending legend that the Pens wish they had at some point.
There was Barrasso, but he blew his main load in Buffalo, and was very unpleasant to be around after that.

You used to see this a lot more back then... Often to very funny effect.

In his case, Roy eventually got matching gloves and a new paint-job for his mask, but was still wearing the Montreal pads all the way to the 96 cup finals.
