I hope he can come back and that team is not us.Hopefully he can come back and that team is us.
Don't need glass players like Evans. Out

we'll be fine if he doesn't work out, after all, we're not expecting much next year.I hope he can come back and that team is not us.

Not only does Monahan look like he’s a fit here but he wouldn’t be a huge liability next season, regardless of how risky his medical prognosis might be.Gotta think if any team gives him a shot its us. Our medical staff will have first hand perspective on what happened this year, we actually have a need for a veteran and can give him minutes and he gelled well with the team. I can see him coming back if he's healthy enough (especially if Hughes can move Dvorak/Hoffman).
I think between his catastrophic concussion and hip surgery, he was not in shape to hustle at an NHL level this year. They quietly shut him down without pressuring him to feature. I feel certain he would've played had this season not been a throwaway... but on the other hand hip surgeries take a long time to rehab. I hope he's pain free and healthy going forward.Maybe I missed the memo but it just occurred to me that Paul Byron is still on the team.
Is he pretty much retired like weber and price?
This is absurd given how we didn't have Covid outages or Shea Weber counting against our tally. We are now on pace to narrowly beat the all time man games lost record set by last year's Montreal Canadiens
This is arguable for a few reasons, so I'll ask you to show your working. We are now on pace to narrowly beat the all time man games lost record set by last year's Montreal Canadiens
This is spot on. We tasked our rookies particularly our Dmen with burdens they weren't ready for e.g. matchups, toi and even policing. I've said this continually when referencing our tank. Not rotating in Wideman far more often to give these kids some rest was a monumental failure for the sake of a handful of meaningless wins. That is on Management and not the coach who hates losing. Would Marty gripe? Probably but he should have been reminded his time hasn't arrived yet and we are taking steps to ensure he has solid footing when it does. Post TDL 2024Some media asked the former guy (Pierre Allard) about those injuries
Couple of key points:
- domino effect of injuries: other guys end up with more minutes or tougher matchups (more injury prone)
- not enough training for board battles or fatigue are the main causes of “preventable” injuries
- the most interesting one (for non-veterans): the summer training players do with their own fitness guy is often aimed at having a great camp / making the team. It’s not aimed at being ready for an 82 games calendar. Says that during the year it’s mostly maintenance they can do but he wishes the focus of summer training would be more then “you made the team”.
Same here. He can mentor young players next year too. Good vet to keep around for the culture and he can actually provide something when healthyGotta think if any team gives him a shot its us. Byron only put skates since his surgery last summer a few weeks ago and he can't skate much.I think between his catastrophic concussion and hip surgery, he was not in shape to hustle at an NHL level this year. We're at something like 670 games lost with 8 games left. Last year we had 731 games lost. We have 12 guys out for the season, not even including Armia/Harris who may not play. 8 * 12 = 96. 96 + 670 = 766.This is arguable for a few reasons, so I'll ask you to show your working.
Long explanation here (What is the record for the most missed game in a season?) but the 731 is arguable and I'm missing (but happy to be corrected) how they get to 670 through 74 games, when I have them at 617 (at the most) through 76 games:We're at something like 670 games lost with 8 games left. Considering Byron's main asset is his speed, anything that impacts that will really hurt his effectiveness. I agree that I see him moving to the front office. He probably doesn't want to move and would be a good fit either in coaching or management.Byron only put skates since his surgery last summer a few weeks ago and he can't skate much.
He's been hanging out with Gorton/Hughes during games instead of the injured players lately, so many think he's going to get a job with the front office this off-season.
+17 for games "missed" by Heineman and Mailloux on Season Opening IR gets me to 617. What am I missing?

Interesting that the veteran UFA having season ending surgery happens to be around more. With Dach proving his worth at center, I don’t see how there’s room for Monahan … unless Dvo is on the way out.
Monahan would be an ideal bridge to Beck.
