Spending like that with our core one would think we would see a dominant team. And on some nights they are but other nights it’s just woof.
Its a stupid way to look at it. Salaries fluctuate depending on the year. Like Kuch is getting paid 10M next year, Point is getting 11.25. Bonuses are involved. I bet if they listed top teams, the difference between 1 and 10 is probably within 5M to 6M

This D core looks awful. All four regulation goals were a result of D mistakes or breakdowns. Two by the top 2 guys

The last time this organization lost 7 out of 10 games?????? 2012 more than a decade. Let that sink in a minute.

What do Serge Cirelli and Cernek get on the open market this year if they were UFAs?

Serge probably gets something comparable. The other two? Probably overpaid. Wish JBB would let it ride a bit if these guys wanted so much Jack.

Here are the top 30 UFA Defenseman for the off-season:

Not really much to choose from that we can afford. Looks like TMFVR is re-signing with WSH. I guess we could try to sign Stetcher. But not much out there.

I think you'd be completely surprised. Each one of them are proven playoff warriors that all played big roles in multiple cup victories. Not to mention all have talent.

I'm guessing they go after Kulikov on a short term 1 or 2 year deal. If Cole prices himself out, the same would likely hold true for Soucy and others up there for 3LD. They might have enough for Kulikov in the 1.5-2 range depending on other contract values.

Bring on the first round exit. Hope it happens. This team is clearly out of gas and needs an actual off season

To do what? Get outclassed by teams clearly moving on up? An off-season is not why they look like they do.

Look at Pittsburgh fans saying their team ran out of gas and "just needed a longer off-season" after 2016/2017 and going the distance with the Caps in 2018, yeah they've been knocked out of the 1st round every year since, maybe they just need an even longer off season though.

Ok where do you get the indication he is going to be good? Crystal ball, little genie in a lamp? Or did you just focus on last year in Nashville? Now Remember I am in the Nashville area and I have seen every NHL gamer the guy has played in.

Next you need to define good? Is it 10 goals on the 3rd line or 25 goals on the second if he in fact replaces Killorn next year.

Third you have to explain the price paid for him really two firsts a 2nd and two more picks.

Then you must consider the need of the team his defense will make a marginal difference, it is doubtful it will overcome the number of short handed chances he give other teams due to penalties.

Now initially I thought maybe he may be considered to play in the top 6 which may have helped with net front o. The line. But after listening to the rumbling from the talking heads it looks as if 3rd line is his future, no doubt in search of that Gourde line.

I have seen enough of him to see he is a tweener at most. Defensively responsible but most importantly CHEAP for the moment. Early this year in Nashville we heard if he repeated the 25 goals from last year he was looking for 5 mil per. The common feeling now is 2 to 2.5 for his next contract now if he were a 21 or 22 year old that would not be a issue but his next contract

inhave not eaten crow in a while. But if need be I can. I was not wrong about ABB I was not wrong about Joseph.

I am pretty confident after seeming every NHL game the guy has played as a 25 year old undrafted player who had an anomaly year last year that he is going to be worth what he was paid for. Look at his career last year was the only season since the WHL he had broken 20. This includes his ahl time . We have a saying here in Tennessee a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

He will make a small difference in team defense. But is it enough to overcome the minutes he spends in the box? I point out again he is 2 minutes below Maroon for time in the box.

We’re going to find out soon enough what he will bring. But one thing we already know his cost was far above the going rate.

So prepare that plate of crow one of us will be eating it. But do not try to represent that a good defensive forward is worth the price. We could not give Johnson away who was good two way and was still a 15 goal guy even being demoted to fewer minutes.
ouch! reading that hurt- was being optimistic about Jeannot.

Why are people clumping Goodrow in with Coleman and Hagel as guys who needed to adjust? Goodrow was right off the bat, he was impressive right from game 1. Short term memory I guess.

A lot of goodrow being good off the bat was the unfamiliarity with him and uncertainty as to what to expect. No one had ever really even heard of him, or knew what he brought to the table. So super low expectations.

Also, he wasn’t fancy and the blue collar forechecks are not as system reliant as say, Hagel who needed to get his timing down. Also Hagel had like 23 goals on a terrible Chicago team so we expected him to so even better here.

Also I like to reminisce and laugh at how much the rangers paid him.

The irony here is fantastic

As much as I hope the top line learned their lesson, I hope Coop learned his that the lines have gone pretty stale. Our mix in the 3rd was a lot more vibrant. Paul looks better even with Killorn than Cirelli (forget about Stamkos), and I liked the tenacity Cirelli and Eyssimont had together. We just aren't as good a team at either end of the ice when we are forcing Cirelli into an offensive role. Let him focus defense, which is where most of his scoring comes from anyway.
