I think we’ll be drafting top 15 next year. I hope Vrana and Kap play really well so we can unload them for a nice return.

We desperately need for Snuggs, Bolduc and Dean to be legit top 6 players and hit on our #10 pick.

Last season Alexandrov won only 35.3% of 150 faceoffs. Hopefully he improves this.

I can't find specific figures right now for Zach Dean's FOW%, but he apparently wins most of his draws. Let's see how Zach does against the big boys.

Just another reason ROR would be ideal for this team. He can teach so much to the young kids.

The misconception that Dean is excellent on faceoffs is probably my fault. Shortly after the Blues acquired Dean, I said that I recalled Team Canada fans clamoring for Dean to take more faceoffs as they were getting killed on draws and that was his specialty. I was mistaken. It was Owen Beck they were clamoring for. He was stapled to the bench while the other Cs continued to lose faceoffs.

Dean appears to be about a 51% face off guy. Beck’s been at 58-59% the past couple years, 64% in this year’s playoffs. In December 2022, clearly I didn’t differentiate between the two that much. Sorry for the misconception.

Canada beat Latvia 4-2 in the first WC semifinal this morning, but it wasn’t easy. Latvia scored the first goal and entered the 3rd period with a 2-1 lead. Canada was able to score 2 and then add an empty netter at the end.

Blais scored the first Canada goal to tie it 1-1.

That’s just scoreboard watching though. No idea how the actual game went but I have it recorded so will likely watch it sometime later.

USA-Germany starts here soon - 10:20.

Gold medal game is at 12:20 Sunday afternoon.

Fantilli with a very impressive GWG. Looks like he's gonna be a beast. I only watched about half of the game but once Canada tied it up, Latvia didn't have many chances. Still a great showing for them.

Sorry but I have it on good authority from Rangers fans that Blais is a 4th line plug. So you're obviously mistaken and it could not have been Blais that scored in an important game.

Pass on ROR unless he’s coming back on a 1-yr, $1M deal to be the 4th line center. And even then I’d only do it with the expectation of trading him at next years deadline. Any team that signs him to a multi-year deal is going to regret it at any price.

Lol what an absolute choke job for the US team. No gold medals for 63 years and counting
Heartbreaking way to lose. Up 2-0 4 min into the game but then Germany clawed back to tie it 2-2 after 1. US then up 3-2 but with the goalie pulled, Germany tied it with a little over a minute left. Hutson then got absolutely turned inside out in OT and an excellent shot beats DeSmith. Germany will play for gold.

First loss of the entire tourney for the US. Canada lost to both Norway and Switzerland earlier in the tourney but when you lose matters. It’ll be Canada-Germany for gold, US-Latvia for Bronze.

Was hoping for a classic US-Canada GMG but it was not to be.

As was I. The US always figures out a way to lose in this tournament. Germany scratched and clawed their way to the win.

Everything wrong with the world is your fault. Thank you.

Seriously, I don't recall you posting that, but I read a couple articles that Dean is ok at the dot. We know we need a 3C and I've consistently opined that whoever between Zach and Niki is better at faceoffs will have the upper hand. With that said, it is soooooo Army to sign a vet to be the 3C for at least next season.

Either way, we've seen Alexandrov display a decent, all-around skill set, but we've also seen one of his weakest skills on display; faceoffs.

Anyway, stop lying to us!!! :sarcasm:

I don't want ROR back on the Blues. He has already slowed down and Leafs fans consistently commented on how slow and mostly bad he looked during the playoffs. Whether that is accurate or just Leafs fans....ummmmm....Leafing is another matter.

Also, I know it's been "reported" that ROR is a mentor for the young ones. He is a rink rat with a strict personal work ethic. That he stays late is because of his mentality. If a younger player sticks around after practice and journos see him on the ice with ROR, they construe it to be a mentoring relationship. In all of the interviews of ROR that I've seen, he has indicated nothing whatsoever to lead me to believe, regardless of "reporting", that he is mentor material.

People see him on the ice with a youngin and assume he is mentoring them. Upon questioning, he's probably mentioned that he is mentoring the kids. I don't believe him. He is just reinforcing what the journos want to write. I can claim that I am a Chinese Dragon Chess Master, but am I?

ROR is almost done and he is NOT a mentor.

ROR was terrible this past regular season. We’d regret signing him to a multi year contract.
He was bad and was a little bitch to start the season. His inability to flex hurt the team.

If it is to happen, then this is about the maximum I would accept.

LOL. He would still be the 2nd best center on our team at least.

You’re on crazy pills if you wouldn’t go above 1x1, come the hell on.

The team improved without he and Tarasenko. Time to move on. I appreciate his contributions to the club, but if they let a much more effective Perron walk, why would they bring back a fading Factor? He factored in too many chances against last season, and I wouldn’t expect him to get any more effective with age.

Why would we want ROR back on the Blues after his dumb shit last season? He is a bitch and his bitchy attitude is what squandered our start last season.

Again, my apologies. :)

I would also expect Army to sign or trade for a 3C or at least a 4C vet (maybe even both), and j think he should. The Blues lost both ROR and Acciari. Even if Buch stays at C, they’re still way short there. I could see Alexandrov winning one of the bottom-6 C spots but they need to plan on Dean starting in Springfield and acquiring a short-term stopgap guy for a year or two. The Blues were woefully thin at C after the trade deadline and would be absolutely screwed if either Thomas or Buch went down for an extended period. Alexandrov and Dean may one day compete for the 3C spot but I think a vet needs to be brought in for at least this next season.

I agree with all of this. Sucks that the Blues went from no center depth, to good center depth for a short while and now back to no center depth.

Yes, it was all ROR and him alone that ruined our season. Good job removing all responsibility from the complete lack of coaching. Maybe it was the coaches that left ROR with Kyrou for an extended period of time when we here on a forum already knew it did not work from a year ago but no no, it's definitely ROR. Also, if you take anything those f***ing Pejorative Slurs from Toronto have to say about a player in the playoffs as legit then you're delusional. None of them know jack shit about anything. Also and DEFINITELY Not Armstrongs fault for breaking up a line that was dominant in nearly all aspects by letting Perron go. Nope ALL ROR!
