Ha, that was great. None of them could keep a straight face

Hader later said that in rehearsal, Fred Armisen delivered his "What're you doing here!?" line normally, but when it came time to air he said "Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhat're you doing here!?" and it threw both him and Kristen Wiig for a complete loop. There's a history of SNL performers mixing stuff up ever-so-slightly to get their castmates to break, Chris Farley did it to David Spade in one skit.

Jealousy is never a good look. :sarcasm:

Tampa could have said the same thing over the past couple seasons when the Avs were the hot new thing. That is just Jersey right now. They have an excellent core of players, nice mix of vets, play a modern-high tempo style... they are a great team and the most likely top contending team over the next 5 years. How great this year is yet to be determined. Their goaltending is suspect and we don't know how they will shore up the team or fit in their young prospects who are nearly ready (Hughes, Foote, Holtz, Nemec). Neither team is really in its final form and won't be until the spring.
Holtz is he a longer development curve? Figured he was a bust not making an impact by now.

I think I just saw one of the worst interference calls I have ever seen against Kirby Dach on Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk had the puck, it went to the corner, Dach finished his check and got a penalty somehow.

And then he got another one for telling the ref how he felt about it.

Yeah, Dach wasn't too mature tonight but that call I would have been furious about, too. He goes into the boards to battle Tkachuk and gets an interference call despite Tkachuk having the puck.

That official had it out for Dach.

A little longer… always been a bit raw. But he’s unlikely to be a ppg winger imo. More of a 2nd line sort. Depends on if you feel that is a bust.

Verbeek wants Bedard.

Bedard and McDavid sharing a division would make for some fun times
I like Verbeek's chances of building a contender around Bedard than the Oiler's chances of winning with McDavid/Draisaitl. It's a shame really but they just are awfully handcuffed with cap mismanagement and not nearly good enough support.

Wish CMac had Sakic's secret "Turn Logic OFF" setting for trades and could sell one centered around Girard for Draisaitl. G could actually help Edmonton on transition when McDavid isn't on the ice. The cap savings could be used for better support. Edmonton would still have McDavid putting up ungodly numbers, but the issue is that can't be nearly enough, and I have no idea how much stuff would have to be added to actually make Holland stay on the line. It is Ken Holland though...

Brother, the only player on our team the Oilers would move Leon Draisaitl for is Cale Makar. They wouldn't even entertain Nathan MacKinnon.

Sakic really should have tried harder to rob Chia of Leon while he was there.

So he admits that it was about money and his next contract.

With him and ROR and Stastny it sounds like the word in the locker room at the time was that if you wanted to make money you had to GTFO.

Leave it to you to completely pull a hot take outta nowhere.

He didn't "admit" to anything, still maintains he wanted to go to a team that was playoff-bound (while also acknowledging the Avs bounced back and made the playoffs the very next year) and also said it was his last shot at a big payday. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't mean that was his primary motivation.

If we're villainizing Avs and former Avs who wanted to get paid then I guess we'd better starting burning in effigy the images of Tyson Barrie, Cale Makar, Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, and Gabriel Landeskog. ESPECIALLY Landeskog since that was a rough negotiation. All those players put up way, way more resistance at the table than Duchene ever did during his time in Colorado.

Dude what?
With the structure in place, the Avs players at the time didn't think they'd get paid at their value in Colorado.

Talk about misinterpreting what I said.

Don’t tell that to the captain who was like 8 minutes from going to FA.

Or the dman and winger who fought to buy as few UFA years as possible.
