Clean as a whistle...but holy hell that is a heavy hit.
Pound for pound, he might be the heaviest hitter in the league. He utterly flatted a monster of a hockey player and did it as clean as you can.

They have both of those… tonight was goaltending failing more than anything. Which could easily hurt them in the playoffs.

Goaltending is the obvious one. I don’t think they have good team defence. Their style of hockey just won’t translate the same in playoffs imo. Time will tell.
They play almost exactly like the Avs did… defense doesn’t look to be their weakness.

That’s the same with New Jersey… I don’t think anyone is saying they’ll win the Cup… but win a round, maybe two… they could do that.

At breaking up cycles, clearing the net, and defending for long periods of time - yes. At transitioning the puck, skating, possession, and passing - no.
Kovalev got nothing on this guy. Probably some context involved here but I could be wrong.

The more I see them on the ice the more I like them. Didn’t like it at first.
Most of these Reverse Retros have been successful IMO. Even the WTF designs like Buffalo’s.

Don’t equate pedestrian goaltending with a lack of toughness. THAT will be the reason they fail in the playoffs.

By Big boy hockey I meant playing the game the right way. Mistake free with attention to detail more than anything not big and physical.

Anaheim missed the boat on moving Gibson.
2-3 seasons of mediocre stats and GMs may think he'd bounce back on a contender. Anaheim has been awful this year, but I can't see any team paying much for Gibson at this point when he has a sub 900 sv% and 4 1/2 years left.

Well in that case the Devils usually play “big boy” hockey better than just about anyone else. They drive possession better than anyone in the league, just so happens they had a pretty off night and Vanecek didn’t have it at all.
