Looks like we need to take Weegar off our list. 2 bad playoff performances and the Panthers hate him. Exactly who we don't want or need

I recall seeing a thread, maybe it was last season, touting Weegar as a top pairing D man or something like that. It only takes one or two boneheaded plays by a Man during the POs that will earn you a fan base's undying enmity. Reading about Weegar's performance reminded me of Nemeth against the VGK.

Or Landeskog is. Personally I hope so, this will allow Rantanen to finally reach his full potential, and for Byram to be captain in 4-5 years.

There's finally an explanation to Avsboy constantly posting Byram will be captain in 4-5 years.

I now agree with him. It's looking very likely that Byram will be our next captain in 4-5 years.

Who do you guys think the Avs target for their annual reclamation project? For fun, and mildly painful reference, here is a trip down memory lane:

2014-15 -- Jordan Caron
2015-16 -- Jack Skille and Brandon Gormley
2016-17 -- Joe Colborne
2017-18 -- Nail Yakupov
2018-19 -- Marko Dano
2019-20 -- Valeri Nichushkin

As far as UFA options go, Dal Colle definitely fits the mold of "high draft pedigree, nothing to show for it".
For trade options, Morgan Frost and Sam Steel both intrigue me the most, especially if all it takes is something like Bowers and a pick

We also got the former Carolina defenseman recently.

Domi, Määttä, Zboril, and Juulsen are UFAs who technically fit the bill.

Zboril would be intriguing given his style of play. He started to break out in Boston before his injury though and most likely re-signs there where he will have opportunities to play in the top 4 more often than not.

I know you're only including former 1st round picks, but I personally would add the below players to the list...

2014-15 -- Jordan Caron
2015-16 -- Jack Skille and Brandon Gormley
2016-17 -- Joe Colborne, Matt Nieto* and Sven Andrighetto**
2017-18 -- Nail Yakupov and Patrik Nemeth*
2018-19 -- Marko Dano and Ryan Graves***
2019-20 -- Valeri Nichushkin
2020-21 -- N/A
2021-22 -- Nicolas Aubé-Kubel*

*Former 2nd round pick
**Former 3rd round pick
***Former 4th round pick

As far as next season... I like the Zboril guess. No idea if he would work out. He probably gets a two-way deal, like Roland McKeown did.

I think there could be some interesting non-tender or buyout candidates this summer too. But we'll see what happens.

Does Kubalik count? I could see the Avs possibly going after him and assuming he re-sign Nuke and Lehk’s we might run a more offensive orientated third line and an absolute shutdown second line.

Landy-MacK-Rantanen
Nuke-JTC-Lehk
Kubalik-Meyers-Newhook
LOC-???-NAK

I know JTC on line two makes me want to puke, just a place holder (hopefully). Imagine if we landed Danault and he was our 2C, no team would ever score against that line.

Also Wiercioch and Rene Bourque in 16-17.

Oh boy, the hate towards the Player who is ALL TIME 6th in ppg in Playoffs ALL TIME is incredible. And u r supposed to be a fan of team lol.

There’s a board for Finnish hockey if your only interest is complaining about Avs fans criticizing Rantanen. You may get more favourable agreement there
There's a board for Canadian hockey, too, dummy. Stupid takes command for similar responses. And most of the takes on one of the all-time best player in this team have been dumb and I still do not understand the reason for it. But... great win again! let's hope we can get through Dallas in 2nd round. They are the boogieman once again now that vegas is not there :).
