Honestly with Kadri likely walking at the end of the year I would love for the Avs to go hard after one of Schief or Barzal.
I'm not here to defend Scheifele, but I don't blame him for being frustrated, especially if they're bringing back Chevy (as an Avs fan I'm delighted they are though). Jets have been spinning their wheels for a long time now with no discernible end in sight.

Honestly I see this as him just being honest. He could have given a cliche answer and not said much but he was being open. And why is this position such a bad thing? It's on the GM to build a winner around the star player, and it's not like Winnipeg has much more going for it in terms of a city to live in, so I don't blame him for losing patience. Sure, as a teammate it's not something you want to hear.
If Schief is on the market we should go hard as ever after him, but not sure we have what it takes to get it done. Girard could maybe be a fit on that team too.
Also I'm a little biased when it comes to Scheif because I spent an afternoon with him and he's a really nice dude.
We definitely have the pieces to get a Scheifele deal done, just a question of whether Joe is willing to put up or shut up. You make either of Newhook or Byram available you're likely beating out any other offer from any other team.

Tierney was interesting to me a couple years ago but at this point I'm pretty confident he would be a downgrade on Compher, just stay away from that one IMO.
No. Avs already have potentially better options than him. The fact a rebuilding Sens club doesn’t even want him should tell you all you need to know.

Part of me wants Scheifele but I think Newy is going to be a really really good player as soon as next year. Im really high on him. He shows everything to me that screams breakout, 1st and 2nd line C covered for the next 8 years with Mack and Newy.
Byram I also think is going to be a superstar and earlier this season when he was finding his groove was looking like Cale 2.0 so I don't think I would trade him either, but Peterson definitely isn't something to scoff at.

In all seriousness there is NO WAY Chevy sends his most talented center to the best team in the division. It’d cost a ton and frankly I think there are better solutions out there via trade. Scheifele is hella talented but has no inkling on how to play defense, and I’m now wondering about his attitude.

A guy that really makes sense to target via trade next year would be Sean Walker. Great contract, RH shot that can play top 4 minutes, signed to a great contract for 2 more years. Not sure what it would take. I fully expect them to keep one of Manson/EJ. Ideally we re-up Manson and move EJ after winning the Cup. LA is loaded on the right side with Doughty, Roy, Durzi and Spence. Not sure what LA would want though.

A trade around Girard for a RHD and young center makes sense between the Avs and LA.

I'm not sure they'd have much interest in Girard with players like Durzi, Spence and Mikey Anderson already in that mold. They also have Bjorfot and Clarke. If anything they could use more of a LD Josh Manson type. If they are trading a package like that I see them doing it for Chychrun not someone like G. But yes, they are ideal partners for us.
Plenty of reasons to not want Tierney... but the Sens have ~5-6 guys fighting out for top 9 center spots outside of Tierney. They don't want him because they have cheap players to replace him that should be better.
