I didn't get involved in any of that because I didn't watch him play. I am more interested in seeing him against NHL competition. I was also in the Shane Wright camp so I was a little disappointed with the pick.Have you seen his Liiga stats though?
So what’s the truth? Lol
you cant stop an 18 year old from gaining weight though thats not plausible. Unless he was overweight, which he most obviously is not, then there is no weight to lose. Hes a growing kid, its perfectly normal hed gain some weight. the kid is a physical beast though so no need to worry hell slow himself down. Id worry more about Cauflield gaining 5lbs than Slafovsky 9 if we want to worry about someone.
The NHL is all be speed these days, if he can keep the speed with that size, it's fantastic, especially as mentioned, not many are able to do it and we've seen good players completely unable to follow because they gained too much weight.
But Slaf said he's at 230 and not 238, which would make a lot more sense cause 238 is......well, he's the same size as Anderson who's at 227lbs, so another 11lbs on that big thick dude, that's a lot.
Yup. He needs to learn how to pick his moments.Does anyone think he's trying to be too fancy?

It IS early, but, at least, we can say that HuGo are proactive.I would say it is too early to make any meaningful prognostications one way or another with this group. But there is certainly room for optimism based on the over arching team building philosophy that Hughes and Gorton have advertised to the fan base and to the players. The previous regime's issues always seemed to orbit around the team's insistence on winning now, whereas the focus on developmental process appears to have taken clear precedence with the current group.
I don't see any reason to tether this group's projected outcomes to those of the past regime as most developmental ties have been severed. The trainers and other support staff are little more than generic tools that will have a net zero impact relative to other organizations. Even a guy like Burrows is a different asset when his impact is being guided by MSL's philosophies.
I think this organization is extremely progressive and are unapologetic in their attempt to push past developmental archetypes that they might deem to be less effective than the general consensus. This feels borderline experimental but it appears as though we might have some hockey minds who can transcend the current zeitgeist that governs the developmental strategy employed by most teams and more specifically old school regimes like Bergevin ran.
Maybe this whole process crashes and burns or maybe HuGo are developing the archetype of the modern NHL franchise that will be copied for the next decade or two. Either way I am intrigued because I have alot of respect for the intellectual moxie that this organization is brandishing and have high hopes for this particular prospect pool given the likelihood of more blue chip prospects being drafted in the next few seasons.

That's ridiculous. If Slafkovsky were to struggle at the NHL level, he would not be outplaying Drouin and Hoffman.I guess all I’m saying is I’m not sure that Slafkovsky/Drouin/Hoffman’s play should necessarily be tied together (with the understanding that typically the best players at camp make the team).
It’s the place where the Habs best believe Slafkovsky can grow his game, under MSL or in Laval. For example even if he outplays Drouin or Hoffman (or one of them gets hurt), if he struggles at the NHL level he should be in Laval to start his career.
But Drouin and Hoffman struggled a lot last few years. That's ridiculous. If Slafkovsky were to struggle at the NHL level, he would not be outplaying Drouin and Hoffman.
I can see him play in the NHL as a sniper this year but his game needs work. I think the best move is to send him in the OHL with Mesar to develop some of the fundamentals if they truly want him to become an elite 1st like winger. I know some people will rage with me saying this but i don't believe he'll be able to keep up with NHLers
easely?I thought he had a couple of glitches. Miscommunication/bad pass with the D. Also if you do a spin around pass you don’t miss. That was bush league. Otherwise, he’s a man among boys. He’ll easily keep up with NHLers.
It's not going to end his career in the NHL. He'll learn through mistakes, but what he brings few can bring. I'm pretty optimistic he'll start in the NHL.easely?
ooof
I think we need to be careful, the guy made some dangerous decisions that could potentially end his career in the nhl.
Laval with houle is better?I absolutely couldn't care less about this tournament. New players, different types of players, chemistry or lack thereof....but that lineup is way too condensed right now in the NHl to see Juraj start in the NHL.
It's Laval for me. Without a doubt. Let's not make the same mistake we did with JK.
No. Let young players express themselves and find out what they can and can't do.
It's a meaningless rookie game.. would you rather he improve his dump-in skills?
