Lost so many face-offs at the end of the game, played terrible defense, but still won. Finns were good, but we were better overall.

Kudos to the Finns for not folding in the third, but the Russians deserved to be in the final.

Russia’s deep collapsing defense is a disaster, barely pressuring the puck carrier. Canada will exploit it easily

I have very low expectations. Maybe they should put Michkov on the fourth line. Might help.

Yeah, it seems rather unlikely they are going to be very competitive in the final, but who knows, if they take an early lead, young Canadians might get nervous

I'm not satisfied for this game.
I expected more for Finland and it clearly was mistake.

What a bullshit penalty kill ( 4 goals for Russia in powerplay ) was tonight.
You can't win any hockey game if you take so much idiotic penalties what Finland took tonight.

Russia's 6-3 goal was clear tripping which should have called 2min penalty.
Defence and goaltending was atrocious and hopefully everyone now knows
why this team never was gold medal favorite.

You can't win gold medals if your goaltending and defence are atrocious
and defence lacks size and physicality.

I don't congratulate Russians for advancing to gold medal game
because i'm too pissed for Finland's game.

This team was mediocre as f*** and only guys who might found himself to NHL
are Koivunen, Salminen, Tuomaala, Lambert, Kemell and Heinosalmi.
Rest of guys could became good SM liiga / Euro players.
Next game vs Sweden.

Hopefully Helomaa plays bronze game because i don't trust Koskenvuo
he clearly looks like Veini Vehvilainen in 2016 U20 WJC's and not a positive way.

I don't like our defense system, it's clearly a system and it sucks. Yeah, they try to cover high danger zones, but with so many space on perimeter opponents just score because of redirections and rebounds.

6 goals they scored against Finland only one or two is going to Canada's net. Russian kids are skilled but poorly coached, goaltender is a disaster. The way Russia played all tournament I think they probably allow 6 or 7 against Canada. Could be anything in that range 7:1, 6:2. Miracle is needed to beat Canada.

Yeah, that was a tough one for Suomi.

I imagine they beat a totally dejected Swedish team that were outshot by Canada 29-3 in the 3rd period alone for Bronze. Just totally broke their will to even compete in the two games against Canada.

Russia was definitely the better team in this one and deserved to win, but as always the Finns never quit right to the final whistle. They Finnish lions didn’t fold the tent and just quit on each other, which is what you expect out of a Finnish team. Battle hard the entire game and never quit, it’s an endearing quality of Finns as a people and Finnish hockey.

Russia has a good team though with a lot of skill that eventually won the day for them. The Finns were just overmatched by a better team and that happens in hockey.

Looking forward to both the Gold and Bronze medal matchup.

Michkov vs Bedard for gold should be awesome to watch.

What a shame it's at the same time as the Oilers game tomorrow. I'll be watching both side-by-side.

Will be a fun final but if Canada plays like they did against Sweden in the third period they will break the Russian goalie and defense apart.
Sweden was quite decent before all those penalties in the third period and Canadas increased effort and tempo.
I do believe Sweden will win the bronze because they have a better goalie. I don't think the Swedish team is that bad, it's more that the Canadians is better than ever in this tournament.
I also believe Canada would have steamrolled Finland in a semifinal as well, why? Defense and the goalies. Let's sum their efforts down below.

Koskenvuo, his positioning is nothing but horrible. He needs a coach to learn him this, otherwise he will not even become a successful goalie in Liiga.
Helomaa? He didn't look explosive or agile even if he got the shutout. His stickhandling behind the net looked really insecure as well. Even if he gave me the impression of being more compact than Koskenvuo, I mean that's not so difficult after witnessing his positioning in this tournament...
Suomi, I actually think this guy played himself out of WJC-20´s for next year as well. Horrible fumbling with the puck and really shaky and nonchalant, and that should be his strengths. Defensively? Let's just say that in two games against Russia he gave them at least two goals by his own. I feel sorry for him but he needs to get a lot stronger and play a lot more decisive otherwise Liiga will be he his ceiling, which still is pro level but I do believe he wishes and wants more.
Vilén? I expected a lot more from him this tournament. Nothing special at all. Can become a good KHL, SHL defender at tops. Perhaps a bottom six in NHL if his development gets going. Was not good in the big games.
Malinen? So disappointed with him in the playoffs. I do believe he has the most potential of these D´s but this was not a good tournament for him. Should get more decisive as well but they are young so I´ll give them that.
Heimosalmi, the only one who had a good tournament among the Finnish D´s. Not that good against Russia but I still think he raised his stocks and played at his top level unlike Malinen.

Offense?
Lambert must be injured or something. Lackluster the whole tournament. Even if I do believe the coach gave him a bad role in this team i don't think he's 100 percent healthy.
Kemell is the second biggest talent after Lambert in this roster and up there. He's able to create a whole lot and will probably get better. He can skate, his handling is really smooth and he reminds me of a attacking Heinola in the way that he is so calm and collected. Will become a joy to watch in the future. Needs to become a little more gritty and tough and play with that lion heart on his sleeve. But man o´ man does he look good.
Tuomaala? I get the impression he´s a bit of a Tolvanen and Laine for his age group, with a lot better skating of course. Great goalscorer, great shot, good skating and above average stickhandling. But not that impressive in 5 vs 5 like Kemell and a healthy Lambert. Not the same finesse as Finnish players like Teräväinen, Aho and perhaps Kemell in the future. I´m sure he´ll be good with a good playmaking center in the future but he's not the one who will carry any line.
Salminen? He's good but I don't see any top6 talent in him what so ever, not sure even if he's a future top9 either. Not now that is. Even if the guy is good he's nowhere near players such as Granlund, Armia etc at the same age and they've only become top6-bottom six forwards in the NHL. I actually don't think Salminen is any better than a comparable player such as Vesalainen at the same age, quite the opposite if you look at finesse, skill and so on. Even if Vesalainens attitude has been questioned a couple of times and Salminen seems to be more hardworking.

The thing is, besides Heimosalmi there hasn't been any other positive surprises in this tournament. Expected or hoped to see a bit more from Matikka, Miettinen and some others, perhaps even Kapanen. Oliver was unlucky with the injury, which probably made him a bit more passive.

Canada are amazing but still, way to go referees giving Canada this game. They've missed many penalties for Canada in this game and somewhat gave a bit cheap penalties against team Sweden. Tired of this shit.
stop embarrassing yourself.

I hope the final will have better referees. Try to be a bit objective god damn. It's not even 60-40 in this game. It feels like they've missed every penalty against Canada and also gave Sweden 3 harsh penalties or something. Complete disaster. It actually ruined this game. Well done...
hilarious.

I find it absolutely mind boggling that the top to scorers in the tournament van go head to head in this tournament next year as well, with Bedard even able to come back the year after.

Pretty crazy watching a kid, maybe two at such a young age that will eventually be some of the very best in the NHL.

I´m not sonny, you are. Just rewatch the beginning of the third period or the whole game. Even if Canada is a superior team, the referees were pure dogs*it and sadly favoring one team with their bad calls.
If you disagree I´m not even embarrassed because that only means you are a biased fanboy with a lack of an objective eye for the game. Have a nice day.

you were outscored 20-2 in 2 games and one of the goals were scored with a two man advantage. i'll reiterate stop embarrassing yourself.

I think that Sweden takes the bronze because they have more to prove since they haven't been very good this tournament, except against USA. Two more reasons why they take the bronze is 4 hours more rest because they played earlier than Finland and they didn't battle in the way Finland did against Russia for 60 minutes.
