I do think both teams have been disappointing, especially Finland because Russia had a big game yesterday. But? I do think Finland has earned the W somehow. But I do believe Russia wins the shootout.

Refs are either blind or they have a very strange understanding of the rules. Clean steal and a chance on a breakaway turned into a 2 pminute penalty in OT. Game changing error.

Finland deserves to win the game because of the embarrassing display in the last 5 minutes of the game by Russia, but shootout is a lottery.

Yurov and Svechkov made 2 goals and then destroyed our game with penalties. Overall we didn't play our game, probably because didn't fully recover after the 1st game. It would have worked vs some other teams, but not against Finns.

I´m actually quite shocked by both teams. I think both Finland and Russia played like s*it in this game. Lambert stepped up a bit in the third and showed he's special. I know he's older but in this single game he was better than Michkov.

True, Russia looked tired. But still, Finland deserved the win even if both teams played badly.

10 min isn't enough for rest in situations like this. Emotions and adrenaline can overcome tiredness, but we lost all emotions during that 10 min break.

I got a feeling that Czechs might steal some points from Finland tomorrow. They had a rest day today, but I'm not gonna complain because Finland maybe benefited of that same thing againt Russia today.

You are mixing cardio recovery with running out of juice. US game was very energy intensive. They clearly ran out of energy and no 10 minute break could fix it.

Yeah you're right.
But seriously said if coaching staff cannot get the players to play as a team
then you have wrong head coach and staff behind the bench.

Karjalainen has been assistant coach in U20 WJC's 3 times
and won U20 WJC's gold 2014 so he should know what words like
team effort, team play and team chemistry means because it's coaching staffs
job to get best out of the players.

And if head coach and his staff are incompetent or disinterested
then you have serious coaching problem.

I get that covid19 pandemic has screwed up Finland's preparations to this U18 WJCs.
Yes the other fact is that this team lack international tournament experience
because last time when this U18 team Finland played together
was U17 World hockey challenge autumn 2019.

Of course i know that me, you or anyone else
shouldn't make any decisions or conclusions based on one U18 WJC game.

Finland had not so good start in U20 WJC's
and still they won bronze so perhaps this team can follow same path.

Big comeback by Finland after being down 3-1.
Powerplay was atrocious and it needs lots of improvement before the quarterfinal.

2 Russia's goals was absolutely terrible mistakes by Finland
because simply you cannot play that way in tournament like this.

Good win after shoootout contest and well deserved 2 points.
Hopefully Oliver Kapanen is OK and able to play because that injury looked scary.

Koskenvuo in net didn't impress me by 60 minutes but in shootouts he was good.
Next game vs Czech Rebuplic won't be easy either.

No matter how you win because win is a win even after shootouts.
Thanks Finland for exciting game despite of that it looked bad after 2 periods
but that comeback was full of sisu.

I'm still waiting what it will look like when Finland plays well
hopefully it's something like last 3 minutes of 3rd period.

And being honest Russia should have won they were better team 2 periods.
But it was what it was.
