Blue Jays GDT: 2021 v9 | Next: Wed, Aug 18 | @Wsh | 4:00pm ET/1:00pm PT | Berrios vs Gray

  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Also the play is to bring Romano in, not Hand. f*** off Montoyo, I hope you get fired tomorrow.
If our manager can't even make the obvious choices, whats the point of all this?
I don't even need great or anything, an average manager is good enough.

This team is so unlucky it's getting to the point where it's actually hard to comprehend. Montoyo/analytics team costing us games all year with some bizarre things happening. This team with this run differential SHOULD NOT be 4th in the A.L east. Pathetic.

Agree wit everything you said but Montoyo and analytics are two very different things. Analytics doesn't tell you to bunt with Espinal or run on essentially an in field foul pop up with an average runner. Not sure about the move to remove Cimber, but for me you go to your closer in that situation and he wasn't even up lol. Hand was given mop up duty in a blowout game 3 games ago, but now bring him in the highest possible leverage their is. Kind of unbelievable...

Literally the friggin string on catchers glove was the only thing that might have touched Valero’s forearm. No way that safe call should have been overturned. Just so much annoying about this game lol
Valera probably shouldn’t have been running at all. Or Rivera shouldn’t have told him to run.

This team is still a year out. They NEED to fire Montoyo and strengthen the left side of the infield. Trade Biggio+ for an upgrade.

Once you realize Hand likely walks in a 2nd run or gives up a hit to lose anyways it makes it feel...the same.

No, because Romano likely comes in to face Kelenic if we’re up and Cimber still did what he did.

Now, you can argue that Romano should’ve still come in tonight, and you would be right. lol.

Yep. Agree. Lots of work to be done yet and time to improve the team. Just have to be patient and realize the future is bright.

That's fair, but even Romano hasn't given me confidence of late. For whatever reason, low scoring close games have not been our forte this year. Tough pitching matchup tomorrow too, f***.

He would’ve been better than Hand.

Honestly I would’ve felt more comfortable with Dolis there than Hand. Heck if you threw Espinal onto the mound and he throws a f***ing 40 mph eephus pitch to Kelenic, the guy probably gets himself out. He’s hitting .150 with a .500 OPS. And you throw him 4 straight balls? f*** off Brad Hand.

Hand and Montoyo, not sure who is worse.

And think the Jays have wanted Hand for awhile now. Careful what you wish for. Not all moves work out. What did we trade to get him?
Whatever it ends up being, which is still TBD, is that much too much.

But to be fair, he's much worse this year than when we wanted him in the past.

As soon as he came in I knew it was over. The guy has zero control and you bring him into a situation with no margin for error? Montoyo legitimately has no problem solving ability.

I rarely pile onto the Fire Manager, Head Coach etc bandwagon this early in a tenure. Especially in baseball where I think they have the least influence but I am in on this Fire Montoya, sure there is some bad luck but no way this team should be just mediocre. it's looking like it'll be another 85 win year, had enough of those. This team should easily be 92-95 win.

I think you can link at least 6 to 7 losses directly to his decisions. That right there puts us up 3 games in the WC instead of behind.

And there's probably another 7-10 losses indirectly tied to his decisions.

Cimber has been good this year, so that’s not the problem.

when you only score 2 runs and get robbed on a call in the top of the 9th, that’s the problem.

Montoyo is trash

Here's what Charlie thinks of losing close games:

"We'll get them tomorrow."

Argh.

It's all well and good to be proud of the team bouncing back, but be pissed off when dumb decisions cost the team in late games.

Don't defend that crap, Buck. I don't care if the Jays were 1-7 with RISP last night. I wouldn't have cared if they were 0-55. You have a choice between sending a guy who's not a speed demon on a risky as hell play in a game that's already tied, or leaving him there so arguably the best hitter in baseball can come up to the plate with a crack at cashing him in.

This should not be a difficult choice. And it sure as hell be a defensible one to go "yeah, I'm gonna chance Valera getting through on this suicide run."

Imagine thinking that because you were 1 for 7, therefore, means you gotta force the action. But, its Buck. He's not the brightest bulb.

And let's not forget we got a 105 wRC+ hitter with 1 sac bunt in his career to bunt
