I'm marveling at the wonder with which Pat says "There's a case where the shift takes away a base hit."

Yes Pat. It did. Because that's what it's designed to do. Because it's almost like teams have figured out the tendencies of hitters and how to turn them against the person.

To be fair the Sox have been pretty notorious for being up and down for like the last decade.

Guys like J.D Martinez weren't going to hit that bad all the time like they did last season.

Wouldn't think Cora would be that dumb to implement something illegal but then again...

A guy that hit .280 last season with an above average OPS and has been bounced around the lineup/to the taxi squad because of other players this season isn't what i'd call hanging by a thread, but sure.

Trust me, a 26 year old in that shape who can only play 1B and has a career OPS of .760 and a career fwar of 0.4 in 190 games is not in high demand across the league. He's a very, very borderline MLBer and should be doing everything possible to hang on, including laying off the snacks.

They have also had a super soft schedule facing some crappy pitching.

Jays have played a ton of quality competition and a road heavy schedule to start the season.

Just a heads up for everyone in BC: Due to the Canucks, this game isn't on Sportsnet Pacific. You'll have to watch on the West/Ontario feeds instead.

Good recovery to get out of that jam with minimal damage but that pitch count isn't exactly what you want to see with a banged up and worked out bullpen lol.

Anyone else notice that Ray's left arm seems to be significantly larger than his right?
