I love how Romano is struggling and Buck is just like, not much Montoyo can do here.
As we watched Cash use 3 different pitchers in the 9th last night to close it out. Maybe after the 2nd straight walk someone loosens up?! He waits until he throws, what, 10 straight balls and walks the bases loaded before rushing Cimber to loosen up. We held on, so it doesn’t matter, but how about we be prepared :dunno:

Imagine this team with Cash as the manager

That was as ugly a win as it gets but at this time in the season a win is a win. A win tomorrow would be massive as they'd go 4-2 vs TB in September (2-1 at Trop) and will go into a 4-game series against the lowly Twins while NYY and BOS beat up on each other

Well, that 9th inning didn't take 10 years off my life at all! Yikes! And just to review: Hope we don't get this umpiring crew at any point in the post season. This was a travesty of epic proportions. Also, Kevin Kiermeir (and I don't care if it's spelled wrong) has now joined Brett Gardiner in my HOF of hated opponents who rise from their normal mediocrity to Ruthian heights everytime we play them. So, everyone repeat after me: "f*** Kevin Kiermeir."

The Jays have officially hit the win mark I was expecting they'd make: 85-88. Hopefully they will win more, heh.

Here is Country Joe from last night. I don't know Run Expectency is actually calculated but I am very surprised that the one pitch wasn't in the top 3. I guess technically it wasn't a final pitch of the AB so makes sense, win probability because of the inning was probably a different story.

Joe must really hate Kirk or something, but to be honest, Kirk isn't a very good pitch framer from what I see and Joe has probably never done a game with him.

Why is Joe West home plate umping two days in a row?*

*He's not actually but Dreckman is calling the exact same outside zone

I don't understand why Dyson is starting same goes with McGuire.

Yeah I don't know why either. Between Gurriel, Grichuk, Hernandez and Dickerson there are four outfielders that should be in before Dyson and his best role is as a pinch runner/defensive replacement. I don't really like McGuire even being on the roster, especially if Springer is going to be DHing all the time and one of Kirk or Jansen are already going to be on the bench.

I don't mind McGuire at this point in the season and this is the one game I can understand him starting (probably the best blocker of the three and that is a boon when facing a bullpen day) but having Lamb and Dyson also starting is crazy. At this point in the season, there really isn't a justification for having anymore than one of those guys starting at any given time.

This bottom of the lineup SUCKS! I can't wait for guys like Espinal and Biggio to get back.

OH LOOK IT'S 3 UP 3 DOWN such terrible bottom hitters.

This bottom third of the order is horrific offensively. Is Montoyo stupid not putting in Grichuk at the very least? This is an important game, as they all are.

Agreed

Hell bring up top prospects over the absolute garage that is playing today.

Grichuck would be a massive upgrade on this trash.

The Rays remind me of a bunch of annoying mosquitoes on a camping trip. Just a bunch of pain in the ass pesky little pests that you just want to squish.

I've been generally impressed with Teo's defence in RF. He's obviously not a gold glover but has gone from "nearly unplayable" to "solid enough" and that's a big leap. He's become the stereotypical RFer that has existed since the 80s; large dude with surprising speed, tonne of power, and a pretty good arm. There aren't a lot of them left.

They're just damn disciplined at the plate. They won't bail out a pitcher on pitches that are slightly off the plate. On another note, whose bright idea was it to put a restaurant down the third base line?

I was actually thinking that as well! Not sure I would eat there.

Of course we are also about to lose because Tampa and we really needed a started in this game.
