Pretty pathetic way to go out. Team showed zero heart down the stretch. Got embarrassed game in a game out by shit teams and top teams. Really disappointing

Yeah, I was wrong to compare this team to the Leafs. At least the Leafs had the decency to make the playoffs BEFORE they choked. The reality is that hotstreak they were on was an illusion. This is the real Jays and what we're seeing now is a correction. They're not quite there yet, they're still too young in many ways, and I always thought they were going to make it interesting but not quite make it which is why I guessed an 85-88 win season which is normally the record that leads to such a result.

But hey, it isn't over yet. The Yankees are out of reach but it's still possible Boston and Seattle crap out and the Jays make it up in Baltimore. Then again, when your entire strategy is hoping the other teams lose, chances are you're sunk.

The Rays have been just as bad as the Jays in 1 run or extra inning games.

The Rays win games, though. They know how to comeback in a game. When the Jays get down, unless Springer is around and on a hotstreak to bail them out or someone is actually on base when Semien hits a home run, they stay down.

This article from fangraphs (The Giants Capitalize on the First Pitch) talks a lot about why swinging at the first pitch is more and more beneficial in today's game. To point, this graph, which shows the dramatic decline in wOBA when falling behind in the count.

I'd love to see a graph that charts how often graphs are used to justify poor play, lol.

How do you know that the winning streak earlier wasn’t a correction either? This is a team that should be contending for wild card. Here they are contending till the last few games.
To be honest, your prediction came when we only had one legit starter (Ryu), now we have 4 or 5 for sure. A terrific job by Atkins and Shap. This is a 90+ win team. With some nice moves again in the winter, they should contend for the AL East next year.

I think no matter what happens there's reason to be optimistic going into next season. This is still a very young team but a lot of good signs for them going forward. This team clearly could have won 95 games ro so without the ridiculous injury luck.

A competent manager would be nice.

Oh, absolutely. We're really in year 1 of a multi-year contention window here. And we won't be spending 90% of the year on the road going forward.

I have no idea if this is true or not. Not denying that they may be a better comeback team, but is there data out there to show it? From other info out there it’s clear the Rays are great at one thing and that’s destroying teams under .500. They never play down to their opponent’s level.

Cole looks really rattled. They have to continue the onslaught here. Tack on at least 2 or 3 more runs. Because inevitably he's going settle in and start pitching better.

If Sportsnet is going to mess up their virtual graphics then do it with Franks Red Hot sauce instead of Heinz please. They could put that shit on everything.

Signing Siemen for only one season is going to be a big mistake me thinks..

Considering he wanted a 1 year prove it deal more than something longer term. Signing the best free agent in baseball to a 1 year 19 million dollar deal is more like the best move anyone make in the offseason rather than a mistake.

They did discuss 4 years but given he only had the 1 above average year in his career prior to this and wanted a 1 year prove it deal more, a 4 year 70 million dollar deal, while it would have been amazing in retrospect, would have been way too risky at the time.
