I imagine Kirk will be the starter soon enough if Jansen doesn't hit well to start the year. Once Kirk takes the reigns I don't think he will relinquish the starting gig.

I really thought Jansen would be a better hitter in the bigs but he hasn't been able to breakthrough at this level offensively and time is running out before you start looking at him as a solid defensive catcher that is a bit of an auto out at the bottom of the lineup.

He was DFA'd. He and Breyvic Valera were the last cuts so that the team could make room for Tim Mayza and Joe Panik on the 40-man roster.
