Can only 20 skaters suit up in the tournament? Who will watch in a suit? Kleven and Skinner?

Turcotte breaks in and hits the cross-bar! Then Turcotte follows that up by trying to beat 3 Finns! I like it a lot!!!

Since the discussion came up yesterday-

PP1:
Boldy
Caufield
Kaliyev
Zegras
York

PP2:
Brink
Brisson
Turcotte
LaCombe
Sanderson

Yeah. Those two seem like pretty obvious scratches.

Faber looked pretty good in his limited minutes. Turcotte is a force, even if he isn't as flashy as Zegras. But what a showing from Zegras... so upset that he was drafted by the Ducks. He's gonna be so good.

said this in the GDT but beyond the top couple of guys this looks like a team of grinders...they have speed but not many scoring chances outside the top 4-6 players

but it's only the first exhibition game but there isn't much time in this tournament to iron out the kinks, gotta be ready to go game 1

This has to be one of the only USA teams at the World Juniors that are mostly Americans...Turcotte traces lineage to Quebec,Canada,Brisson to Quebec,Canada,Sanderson to Canada and Kaliyev to Russia. The rest are bonafide Americans

I don’t get the Skinner hate. Maybe because he’s not a college hockey guy some don’t like him. He was better than the other two RHD’s, and Kleven. No way should he not dress. I think Kleven is an one and than it’s between Faber and Helleson. I’d use Helleson, but he struggled today. Didn’t like his play, but I didn’t think Faber was noticeably any better. I liked all the LHD except for Kleven.

I thought we were okay. I think we are a little light offensively in the bottom six because of how poorly this roster was constructed, and I might switch Beniers onto the second line at some point over Brink, who I think doesn’t do well with a faster pace game.

The Knight goal against was really weak. Can’t be having that happen when the games matter. I wouldn’t want to overreact to exhibitions. There will be changed during the tournament. Good that we won and got out of this game without any injuries.

Hate to say it but I totally agree.

Why are you going for a victory lap during an exhibition game?

And just so you remember the context, you actually made an incorrect statement that you were corrected on.

I also don’t like those PP lines. I think the coach is wrong. Because your opinion aligns closer to the coach right doesn’t warrant a victory lap.

The US is going to need their top skill guys to compete better 5 on 5. Too much perimeter play. I still say they should put up 7 on that Finn team.
I thought the Finns were pretty good! Americans had more chances and have more talent and skill up front, but hockey games are played on ice not paper...7 goals,I wouldn't agree with that

Not sure what more you could want from the US forward group - given the circumstances. The top-six looks incredibly dangerous. Sure, they'd look a lot better with a third line of Hughes, Robertson and Bordeleau ahead of Beecher and Mastrimone as two-thirds of your fourth line - but those five are simply not available and it has nothing to do with roster construction. The US will have to make the best of their bottom-seven and I thought the group skated well tonight...

All seven have enough offense to contribute to overall depth scoring and almost all of them can skate without any liability - freeing up the top two lines and the PP's to do much of the heavy lifting. So be it, its the cards they were dealt.

The US easily outpaced Finland 5x5 and outshot them 45-16 on the night, despite looking like a group still finding their game legs and their team chemistry. When passes find tape instead of jumping sticks, this should be an extremely high-skill, hard-skating group and a fun team to watch.

I think an 'in-sync' US power-play pots at least another, maybe two.

Clean up the PK, eliminate some turnovers and soft, early goals and this team has a chance, which is all you can ask...

Beniers will be on the PP before the end of this tournament
He should be next up. A 3F + 2D PP in a tournament like this is pointless unless you are absolutely loaded on the blue line.

Get over yourself. You weren’t the only one talking about the PP. It’s not exactly rocket science to figure out Sanderson and LaCombe would get 2nd crack at a PP in the WJCs over HENRY THRUN of all people.

If I wanted to take a victory lap I’d bump my pairings from two weeks ago that were a Helleson and LaCombe (who I said would be in my top 6) flip away from being right on the money. Or I’d point out how ridiculous it was for someone to think Sanderson wouldn’t actually play top 4 minutes on this team. Who could have said such a thing?

It’s not rocket science if someone has a different opinion than you? You attempted a victory lap, in my opinion. Don’t get mad that I’m only reminding you that the context of the discussion was different than how you’ve framed it.
