Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. How has Holmstrom looked? I see he has been getting some points, he also looks a bit bigger in the very little I've been able to catch. Thanks in advance.

That's encouraging to hear. Fellow Isles fans were very hard on him being picked, but it seems like the talent IS there.

He's played a pretty good overall game. Probably a career 3rd liner in the NHL, but could be one of the better 3rd liners in the league.

So, changes to be made: PK is awful obviously, need to be aggressive, don't just stand still, take a leaf out of William Karlsson's book. PP looked bad aside from one time. Swap Sundsvik, & Niederbach. Olausson, & Berglund should play.

I thought Sweden was the better team and the difference was in net. Alnefelt in net and Sweden wins.

Eeeeeh, only goal you could pin on Wallstedt(who went in cold mind you) is the 3rd one, but that was a banger of a shot so maybe not.
Have a better PK and that's a W. Brännstam for example playing the body away from the play was... Less than stellar.

He wasn’t that bad, but there’s a difference in quality right now between Sweden’s two keepers. It’s hard to beat Askarov with anything less than the starting goalie. It seems like it might’ve made more sense to play Wallstedt against Austria and Alnefelt against Russia, but maybe it’s because the coach didn’t want him playing 3 games in 4 days.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm no goalie evaluator, but I thought Wallstedt looked really solid in net today. No bad goals against, just overall a very sound performance from him. I personally thought the rest of Sweden was the problem. Defensemen were constantly getting beat, flubbing some of the easiest passes I have seen, and just forcing so many unforced turnovers. The powerplay was not good, especially with Soderstrom at the point, as the puck just seemed to die when he got it on the powerplay. Holtz, Raymond, Gunler, and Soderblom were the only guys who looked passable out of all the skaters today, everyone else to me just looked extremely subpar, incapable of generating anything on offense. It doesn't help that Holtz and Raymond have to play between a black hole on offense. They should be creating for themselves, but I swear they couldn't even pass it to Niederbach/Sundsvick without the possession dying. They can't generate much when only 2/3 guys are actually capable of doing anything. In my opinion, I don't think the loss can be blamed on Wallstedt when the rest of the team played so awful.

my opinion is that raymond and the other guy what is his name......stoltz...holtz something....they are not very good players. i see game tonight and i see these small mickey mouses at ice. i dont like. i wonder what scout and knowers are doing? what do they see in these small players? they very small and weak. i see these pick totally like throwing choise down toilet. there a a world of full of these players. no need these to nhl. i dont see it coming that low. maybe if nuclearcatastorphy destroying almost whole world and people and starting from all over again. and nooooo way these 2 players have good shot. no way. very average. having sweden glasses still on? take off and see truth. thank you. sorry if more a mess this time. long night long time no sleep

Holtz and Raymond is such a let down so far.
Broberg, need to sit till he is healthy.

No excuses for coming out so flat. No intensity, pure laziness. Sending out the 4th line for the opening faceoff was indicative for the mindset. Lets stay back boys, let them take charge. Fuel for the other team.
Also a bit worrying how weak our top 4 D looked. Johansson had an incredibly poor 1st period, directly involved in both goals. Broberg sucked throughout the game, very passive. Söderström with a ton of risky low reward plays, weak along the boards. Björnfot was alright.
PK was another big issue. Just look at that 1st Russian PP goal....
I would make some changes. Olausson & Berglund in. Replace Broberg with Andrae on the 2nd PP. Separate Holtz and Raymond (not happening, I know). We need Raymond to get those longer shifts in the offensive zone, it's not happening with Holtz and Sundsvik so let's do something radical, switch Holtz and Söderblom.
It's good for them to get a couple of games like this. The Russians were good, they have practiced for a month and played quite a lot of competitive games together. It showed. There were definitely positives (Söderblom, 2nd period etc.) but the way they came out as a team in the 1st bothered me a lot.

People are being overly negative after the game. Russia dominated the first but I do think we were the better team in the second and third. We definately showed we are good enough to compete at the top this year. Not too worried, even though Rönnmark made some very strange decisions.

I agree with every single one of your points.
They didn't come alive until halfway through the 2nd. I think their marching orders from the bench are to play passively, head man the puck on the breakout but don't rush it too much or too far. Towards the middle of the game that's when you could see Broberg take a few chances skating it into the zone and Johansson as well.
I don't think Holtz is enough of an offense creator on his own. Raymond was locked down for a good part of this game by Russia, so Holtz was the main man on the line last night and he did not distribute well. When Raymond was open he wasn't getting him the puck, and Sundsvik should be nowhere near a scoring line. As a Wings fan it reminds me of Jeff Blashill playing old man Frans Nielsen on the 2nd line. Not the place.
Broberg did not look good last night. I can think of 2 shifts where he looked like a positive difference maker. Soderstrom was way too passive as well. Johansson sucked in the first period but he looked like he knew it and was doing is damnedest to make up for it in the 2nd and 3rd. At least he started to show some intensity. I can't say the same for the others.
That third pair for Sweden was just...bad. No hustle out of them. Berglund plays with a bit of jam and has decent wheels. He should have been on. And 100% on Olausson. I want to see that kid get a better chance. He's so fast and has some of the best hands on all of team Sweden.
At least Sweden's 2nd and 3rd lines came to play.
