Honestly I'm just not even taking any criticism of Byfield seriously anymore. People say the weirdest shit about him and it rarely even makes sense. I've literally never seen a prospect so picked apart on routine plays. It cheapens 'real' discussion of him

Like those main board posters, one was whining about the goal suggesting it was just a lucky 'hope' play rather than a good pass, and he skated himself out of the play. Like what do you even do with 'logic' like that?

I'm done talking Byfield with anyone not on this forum. It's like talking Kopitar. "yawn I'm not impressed."

Did they bring up his iq yet ?

Stop acting surprised, he's being picked on for obvious reasons.

Durzi looked very good relative to last season. As did Villalta.
Agree, they both did, but I think we should expect that from a 3rd year pro. Usually they don't even play in these tournaments, and we know Villalta was a last minute add. Durzi has continued his growth from the last six weeks of the season last year when the light bulb finally seemed to hit the on button as a pro. I hope he continues his improvement. Looks like he'd filled out more too in his upper body, a big issue for him the first two seasons. Good move to give him the "C", help build his confidence out there.

I found this breakdown from an Avs perspective. All the goals are shown and its decent quality video.

Yes the Avs were sloppy but the Kings/Reign were good too! This guy gave no credit to the Kings, well the Avs shit the bed and the Kings/Reign were better by a country mile

It's from the Avs perspective so of course it'll shit on the Avs. Homers homering.

Durzi did look very composed. I think it's his new flow giving him confidence and swagger.

Had to look this guy up....so he was part of the Muzzin trade but never talked about because of Grundstrom? Is he projected to play with the big club anytime soon?

He was hot dog shit 75% of the ahl season last year. By some account played better the last month. So will see.

He had looked like he had plateaued and actually regressed since coming over, but @regulate and a couple of others are vouching for his improvement at the end of last season which would jive with what's carrying over to right now.

He's definitely got a hill to climb with Drew/Walker/Roy/Clarke/Grans/Faber/Spence around though, and he's definitely not going to be confused for a defensive d-man at any point, at this stage he could break into the Walker role (bottom pairing, PP specialist) but imo Walker is underrated so that won't be happening soon.

I think it's not really a controversial statement to say that Byfield has looked unspectacular so far. But Lafreniere and Stutzle haven't looked spectacular either.

Has that ever happened? The top 3 overalls said to be on different tiers from the draft class end up being just decent players.

He looked great. Had a great shift right off the bat with a pretty assist and scored a goal later. Played responsible in his own end as well. What do you want from the kid? Id take him over anyone else playing in that game on either team. People going on about Byram who to me didnt look very good. Playing a style that he will never get away with in the nhl. Newhook looked better.

The 1st was always the prize in the Muzzin deal. Tough to see a team giving away a real RHD prospect, and Grundstrom was likely always going to be a filler winger. As long as Bjornfot works out, the trade will have been a good one.
