Overall this has been a really solid off-season addressing the forward core. Buch is a direct upgrade to Schwartz (Better offense, similar defense) and Saad is a direct upgrade to Hoffman (Way better 5v5, maybe slightly worse on the PP - different skill set though so tough to judge). I'd like to see us resign Bozak on a 1 year performance laden deal, with the concept of plugging him in to the 4th line to start the season. Bozak as a 4C is a direct upgrade to Joshua/De la Rose/Barbashev when he plays C, plus he can move up the lineup in a way those guys just can't. Our lines currently look something like this:
Saad-ROR-Perron
???-Schenn-Buch
???-Thomas-Kyrou
Barbashev-Bozak-Sundquivst
Extra: Clifford & MacMac
This leaves us with Sanford, Kostin, and Tarasenko currently under contract/RFA. Kostin and Tarasenko are primarily RW, same with Perron (I know he's played LW in the past, but he's had all his success with ROR on the right side). Sanford and Kostin compete for the 3LW spot (Hopefully Kostin can transition to the other side), and hopefully we can trade Tarasenko for either a top 6 C (sliding Schenn to LW) or a middle 6 LW. If not, we plug him in with Buch and Schenn and hope he scores enough goals to convince someone he's worth trading for.
If one of Thomas, Kyrou, or Kostin take a big step forward, this lineup goes from being pretty deep overall to being a really strong contender for deepest overall roster.
