Kings Twitter team just needs to drop this gif before every draft going forward.

It's clear that some of our centers will be shifted to wing at some point.

I mean, this draft they did the opposite of using every pick they had, haha. Honestly though, I'm not even sure what that comment is trying to say.

I think it means that they "used" the lower picks to improve the other picks.

Prior to the Arvidson trade I think they had 8 picks this season and 8 next season.

Today they have 4 high value draft picks and Viktor Arvidsson.

They "blew up" the team by trading Muzzin, Toffoli, Martinez, Forbort et al but they haven't maneuvered through these drafts by moving any of the prospects already in the system or younger players on the roster. They've "used" draft picks to augment an already highly coveted prospect pool.

All positions are looking good with exception of goalies.
May be some trades are needed here.

I mean by that definition doesn't every team "make use of every single one of their picks"? I guess the Sabres didn't use their pick when they drafted Taro, but other than that I can't remember a team not "using" their draft picks.

Do recently drafted prospects get moved often for draft picks? I can't think of many teams that moved players just drafted for another pick.

In that department, the Kings went 3-for-3, landing a trio of players who were ranked higher internally than their draft slot represented. From Yannetti’s perspective, that’s a victory.

“Every single guy we moved up for was the guy that was targeted with that plan. Every time we moved up, we were moving up for a specific guy, and we got that guy.”

Probably the best prospect list ever for this organization. The only downside is no one has just seamlessly stepped in and dominated, ala Kopitar/Doughty. Byfield has a chance to do so if he breaks out next year, and I think if he does he can follow a similar trajectory to Kopitar. That's a high standard of course, but it's great to have to reach to find some negatives with the drafting during this rebuild.

I like seeing Yanetti get excited, but I always temper expectations. I mean, they were over the moon about trading up to grab Zykov who ended up a fringe guy who ended up in Europe. But man, lots of kicks at the can on that list.

I’m not trying to pessimistic here but why do we always seems to hear about how excited our staff is that a guy we picked MIGHT become a 3rd liner?

Because if you think they're hall of famers, you expect them gone within the first few picks. The likeliness of having NHLers drop significantly even in the late first.

If your team (scouts and development coaches) see someone who can make the NHL, then you are excited when you can nab them outside the first.

This is true...but for Byfield, he's going to be a force for certain and succeed. It's just too hard to know if that will be a 75+ point, #1 Center, or more of a 2nd line, 50+ point center.
But when you consider HE IS STILL 18, my mind bends. He does not even turn 19 until next month. There will be some misses and a few traded, but the cupboard is full.
I am glad they transitioned to Wrobo last year for this group and also loved the comment from Akil Thomas this past season, about being the best group of players (comraderie)
that he's ever been part of. There is talent in the ranks and while some of that talent may not be elite, the character is and that will propel some of them to be the Jarrett Stolls and
Willie Mitchell's for this oncoming group.
