Kings don't pick again until 89, Toronto's third rounder, which we acquired in the Campbell/Clifford trade.

Tough to complain about an aggressive scouting staff trying like heck to get their guy. Sometimes it blows up in their face but so what? They are prepared and decisive. I prefer to see that vs sitting in their hands, taking all of the clock to select whatever player fell.

Damn, Sharks just took Gaudreau. Well, Aiden Hreschuk still available. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on a left-handed defenseman.

oh f*** YES I really really wanted Helenius

Say what you want about Blake but watch how other fans react to what we're doing and they're shitting their pants, just masterful draft work, cheers to Yanetti and team

yeah, you know you're drafting well when other guy from around HF drop in and say WOW you got a steal!

Some higher-profile players still waiting to be drafted:
  • Aiden Hreschuk (D)
  • Cameron Whynot (D)
  • Dylan Duke (LW)
  • Connor Roulette (LW)
  • Tristan Lennox (G)
And one guy I don't know much about, but Pronman rated at 16th, is:

Kirill Kirsanov, LHD, SKA-KHL
Sept. 19, 2002 | 6-foot-1 | 198 pounds

Skating: Average
Puck Skills: Average
Hockey Sense: Average
Compete: Average

Kirsanov is an interesting player because he’s a well-rounded but boring player. You’re not going to see him make some end-to-end highlight-reel rush. He’s 6-foot-1 and doesn’t put up a ton of points, but every coach he plays for leans on him. His minutes kept going up at the world juniors, he’s already played for Russia’s national team at the senior level, and he held his own on a good KHL team and got playoff games. He’s very intelligent with the puck, he skates quite well, kills a lot of rushes, and has enough puck skill to play on a power play, although that may not be his role in the NHL. I could see him being a solid two-way defenseman at the NHL level, though. His conditioning is a minor issue. He also signed a two-year extension with SKA. In a sentence, Kirsanov projects as a reliable top-four defenseman who may not put up a lot of offense, but I’m not ruling out him being on an NHL second power-play either.

Another faller from Pronman's board (ranked 31) is:

Prokhor Poltapov, LW, CSKA-MHL
Feb. 1, 2003 | six-feet | 176 pounds

Skating: Average
Puck Skills: Average
Hockey Sense: Below-average
Compete: Above-average

Poltapov had a good, albeit not great, season in the MHL. But his strong U18 worlds reminded you of his underage season. Poltapov’s game has a lot of pace and energy in it. He can wind pucks up through the neutral zone with speed, and often takes it wide and drives right to the net. The amount of effort he puts forth to go with great hands, vision and speed will allow him to create offense versus men despite his size. He has a good amount of physicality in him and can get under an opponent’s skin. In a sentence, Poltapov projects as a middle-six winger who will be able to score and agitate with his physicality in the NHL.

Are you saying he’s available? Didn’t get got to Buffalo at the beginning of round 2?
