Also, how would we feel if we throw a curve ball and use our 7th rounder to take Mailloux? Unethical? Lets be real he is most likely going to be a top 3 round pick next year...

I'm afraid that we go the USA route in Pastujov or Sasmokevich. I just have the feeling that they won't develop into dynamic players.

Draft dynamic players first. Complementary then. You need players that makes things happen. That create things. That the puck seems to follow them. You don't need to be fast, see Suzuki. You just need to have that superb high IQ MIXED with the competitiveness and desire to be in the middle of things. This is not given to everybody. That's what I would like to see. At least in the first picks.

Timmins also predicts that in 5 years, he would have LIKE to pick _____________ but wasn't able to 'cause of we didn't have:
1- enough picks
2- not good enough picks
3- wasn't his decision
4- pick was traded

From what I saw of Raty, would be great if he slipped to us. Otherwise Boucher looks good too.
I expect a lot of who and what!? due to the lack of coverage. Timmins seemed to imply there are a lot of guys he likes who will be big surprises due to the lack of coverage. I’d expect guys who had good years before covid to be picked.
Räty plays for my hometown team Kärpät. He was well hyped prospect for a few good years in junior leagues. Then he was promoted to play finnish pro league and stuck on 3rd and 4th lines, then it all started to go wrong from there. Kärpät made wrong decision to rush him to play in pro league, there was no 1st and 2nd line centre positions available for 18yrs old kid. Then he drifted between junior league and mens pro league all season. Confidence was gone, so he`ll performances in junior league plummeted as well.
All the tools are there. Hard working and smart kid. Risky draft pic but could be rewarding if development goes well.

We desperately need a few more guys with that type of player profile. Too many players in Montreal who slap it around the boards or huck it to the slot blindly with no one there when any pressure arrives instead of being able to make a simple move and have a look around to get a better play/put the defense in a bad situation.

I will admit that I don't know him other than by name from the get go.

However, I don't know that bad usage/development during crucial years at 17-18 years old can be bought back and bring him back on the track where he should have been. Also, it's not like we have had a stellar development system for years. We're just beginning to implement a development culture in the organization and the development system is probably not tooled and mature enough to bring back a young player with already 2 years of bad development on the right track. Plus, as @WeThreeKings already said, players who seem to have peaked and then plateau'd around draft time usually don't make for success stories.

I personally think that it would not be a good idea for Montreal to draft him both for the organization and for him.

I would lose what little respect I have for the organization and MB I have left after Prust, Shaw, Domi and the DeAngelo attempt.

Should we expect more picks out of the Q because of the Covid restrictions that were in place?
I don't know, Timmins was talking about homeruns, finding gems that other teams might have not seen. If he's trying to go for homeruns, I'm guessing that he might try to draft more from the OHL since they haven't played all year.

@WeThreeKings what do you think about Corson Ceulemans? He looks like a pretty good RD prospect

I don't think he's there for us.. I have him going to Winnipeg. I think he's a safe pick, you might get lucky and there's more offensive upside there but I think he will produce averagely for a 2nd pairing defenseman if he makes it to the NHL level. But these guys are worth their weight in the NHL, skate and defend well enough, move the puck well enough and you can be a valuable contributor.

What is it about Bolduc? I only saw him play once but he didn’t show anything…
Bourgault
L’Heureux
Bolduc

Bolduc is inconsistent so you likely saw him play on one of his off games but his consistency came around later in his campaign. He's got high end skills, so if you wanna swing, he could be a home run.

Thoughts on Ville Koivunen?..

I really like him as a middle six sniper.. can play both wings, finds a way to get open and can score in tight/through traffic. Think peak Craig Smith.
