I'm all for trading down multiple times ala Calgary last year and Toronto in 2015. Just think this will be a strange draft, based on 17 year old seasons for the most part, much harder to judge. A real crapshoot, so would rather pick up more rolls of the dice.

Also not opposed to trading the pick to improve the current roster. No, not for some 34 year old with 1 good year left, but for the right deal I would jump at it.

At 15, can't see them getting anyone who is ready for the NHL before 2023, maybe 2024 at the earliest.

Curious for the draft guys here to chime in. At this point with all things being equal (Schneider being a year older), would you consider Owen Power a tier above Braden Schneider as a prospect? Similar skill set?

What are the odds the Rangers even select 15 and dont use it in a trade?
I’d say about 50/50. I can see them dealing the pick plus Buch or Chytil for an upgrade. I think they would rather do that at this point in time the deal one of the big guns on the blue line Schneider, lundkvist, Robertson, or Jones. I think they would like to keep them all for a year or so and see who really matures and steps up to the plate, rather then a mid pick that’s 2 years down the road to evaluate and help the team. They certainly have to keep drafting well though

Raty projects to be a very good 3C. If Svechkov or McTavish are still on board you go with either of those two guys before Raty. My gut tells me it’s more likely we end up with a winger or a defenseman with our first rounder if we hold on to the pick. I also like two goalies—Wallstedt and Cossa. I expect Wallstedt to be gone before 15.

A possibility we trade that 1st but it might not be for more draft picks. We have a lot of prospects as it is.

I know I am going to get killed for this......send that pick to Pittsburgh for Malkin and a 2nd or 3rd rounder. That fixes our center issue for 1 or 2 years balances out the lineup brings in a killer at the 2nd line that knows how to win and we go all-in with him to win a cup with guys Z, Trouba, and Panarin in their prime!

What happened to Raty, wasnt he top 3 pick for the last few years?
His last couple years he hasn’t been generating the offense he used to. He still has talent with the puck, just the numbers have consistently gone down. So now the school of thought is he won’t be a first liner/ top 3 pick he was once thought as. He still handles the puck well, has decent size and moxy, but many scouts are labeling him as a 2/3 C and best because they don’t think he’ll be able to generate the kind of offense he once did in the NHL. That’s pretty much the reason he went from being a top 5 consensus pick to a Mid-late first rd guy

Last couple of years? He was stellar for Finland/Liiga last year...

But yeah the rest of it I agree with. He has the talent and possession game down, just couldn't score for whatever reason. Think he honestly had a bad year. We see this from time to time, though. Filip Forsberg had a bad draft year, fell, *got traded*, and has been a key component to Nashville's offense.
