It’s gonna be a great tourney.

This year and I’d say the next 2, will see Canada ice probably their best WJC teams 3 years running.

Canada’s team this year may be better than the one 16 years ago. They are not getting the credit they deserve. If they don’t win HC has to actually rebuild the program again, it would be utter failure this team is head and shoulders above the others and probably has Atleast 10 players including draft eligibles who could play on it. It’s literally career defining for Tourigny.

I think Spencer Knight is overrated mostly by Americans and Panthers fans.

Askarov wins, he could actually win this tourney himself, he has literally stolen medals before, something Knight and Wallstedt haven’t done.

As for the American age group, they are good, but the depth isn’t there. However, yes it’s a one off.

Sweden losing their top 2 C’s is gonna kill, if Wallstedt is the best goalie they have since Markstrom they’ll have a chance.

I coached against Devon Levi, have watched him for years and f*** he’s a gamer and he can steal games. I believe he can go toe to toe with these 3 and beat them, he almost beat Askarov last year. If he was 6.3 he would have gone in the 3rd round, if he was 6.3 and playing a better caliber he’s a 1st rounder. He literally purposely took the slow road.

it’s a one off, but questions will need to be asked regardless if Canada doesn’t win. It’s just not acceptable if they don’t the team is that good. 20 first round picks, no one comes close. Other teams do have top talent yes, but not the depth and can argue the top 3 at the tourney are in red and black. The f***ing 2nd overall pick is on your second line and might be on your 3rd.They should walk their way to gold, Tourigny is one of the best coaches in Canada btw, great guy I’m really rooting for him. But this is the team you don’t fail with.

Gold Canada
Silver Russia
Bronze ? It’s a toss up, Sweden cause I believe in Jesper, sorry USA.

MVP Dach
Best D, Byram or Broberg
Leading Scorer Dach

All star
Podklozin-Dach-Zegras/Krebs
Broberg-Byram/Drysdale
Askarov

all star team hard to call.

I mean, the U.S. will have 10 first rounders, nine second rounders, and a high 2021 1st rounder (Beniers) in their lineup. It's not Canada but it's not some chump squad either. I would say that's a fair amount of depth. I don't wan't to dispel the Canadian narrative this is going to be a cake walk though.

The 2019 draft has been dumped on and not without good reason. If the U.S. wins it will be a chance for that draft to make its mark.

I agree. The odds of a repeat are very good. A 3-peat and 4-peat are also a possibility.

Let's not get carried away with the false modesty. Looks like a likely 7-peat to me. The number of Canadian first rounders in 2021 will probably shake teams for years to come.

Don’t know about 4, but the 2003 group is strong and the 2004’s have a couple of great D from QC.
Won`t the 2003 group be 19 if/when we go for 4?
Remember, we won last year.

P.S.

You said a 4-peat is possible...

"This year (repeat) and I’d say the next 2 (3-peat and 4-peat), will see Canada ice probably their best WJC teams 3 years running."

Wow you're really expecting that 2027 WJC to be that bad eh? I was thinking it would be 2041 until we lose and that's only because it's too difficult to judge players that haven't been born yet.

Assuming that there is a baby boom in Canada after a dominant 2021 WJC showing, the 2041 team should be quite loaded.

Wow, I hadn't even considered that. Looks like our win streak may never end
Funny but...

Quebec is going through a bit of a resurgence from 03-05 birth years. It’s going to help the depth, the 04 crop should be loaded. 03 a year from now might have some surprises. A few midget powerhouses have some guys who will be of age. It would be very disappointing if Quebec doesn’t have 5 guys on the team in 2022 and heck next year I could argue it also.

USA and Russia will give Canada a proper fight. No doubt about it.

Cakewalk is an exaggeration for this roster, but, I do think Canada is the favorite on paper. I will be shocked if they lose.

The only way it would have been a cakewalk is with Lafreniere in the mix. That's when I think the team would have way too much firepower for anyone to handle.

I don’t think it’s too early to start talking about that 2041 roster. The fact that these kids haven’t been born yet should be no obstacle for us Canada fanatics. This place is called Hockey’s Future for a reason!

Best G: Askarov

All Stars:

You could flip USA/Russia on the podium because I think they’re very close, but Canada is the clear favourite in my eyes. I think Dach/Byram are gonna absolutely dominate the tourney and will be a level above everyone else. Askarov/Knight will fight hard for best goalie honours but I see the Russian taking it away. Zegras/Cozens/Broberg I think will also dominate and claim a spot on the all-star team. But, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Caufield, Podkolzin, maybe Soderstrom take one of those spots instead. Gonna be a hell of a tournament...

I feel like this is the first time I’ve seen Stuetzle’s name mentioned (though I haven’t done a search, to be honest). I wonder if people don’t think he has the surrounding cast anymore to be a standout.

Germany has been decimated because of Covid; With Seider not attending and with Reichel, Kinder and Ancicka having to drop out of the tourney.
That being said, I believe that Stuetzle will have himself one hell of a tournament since with those guys above out, he’s going to have to step it up offensively to avoid Relegation.

No relegation this year. Nevertheless, he may take the team on his shoulders. It would be fun to watch.
