I expected an 8th place finish; In a normal year Germany wouldn’t have been here.
Just happy to be here honestly.

Naturally! And they should feel obliged to broadcast it on regular Slovak TV. (Pretty disgraceful they didn't do that for today's game already. It had over 26,000 viewers on the live YouTube stream.)
That is really sad. For example, Russian games are broadcasted by Match TV, by its paid channel. Match TV is Russian federal sport broadcaster, besides free-to-air channel, they have paid channels.

Nobody counted with such success. And question is, how much money must they pay.

Slovak state TV executives have always been slow on the uptake. Besides, most of their crew is over in Tokyo these days, I guess. Well, let's hope it's going to be a "golden Saturday" for Slovakia tomorrow: the 4-men boat followed by the U18 team. ;)

This tournament will have answered the question which arose concerning the level of Slovak prospects.

If Nemec and Dvorsky are the headliners of the 2022 & 2023 (top 5) drafts, there is also a depth of talent. I was talking about 6 Slovaks selected in 2022 (Nemec, Slafkovsky, Mesar, Elias for sure Petrosvky, Zlnka, Sykora maybe) before the tournament.

There will probably be Repcik, maybe another defender, another forward.

Today, even if I remain cautious, I predict 8 Slovaks for 2022.

The Team Slovakia project seems to be a real success.

We are on the same density of talent as during the golden age of Slovak hockey for 2022/2023 drafts.

The most interesting will be to see the continuity. If each year Slovakia produces 2-3 NHL players, this will be enough to regain a level equivalent to its peak and, with 25 players in NHL, regain the status of 7th great hockey nation.

I hope that this resurrection will give ideas to the Czechs (in progress too, but less spectacular) and why not, will inspire the Hungarian and Polish neighbors.

Kinda surprising with all the elite blue-liners you guys produce every year. It feels more like some mental thing to me. Not enough grit.

Playing system. They try tikitaka hockey at every level, and it is prone to blunders.

I do not think the problem is with money. Bigger issue is what @Faterson is writing. Besides RTVS (Tokio), we have private channels whose motto is to promote Slovak sport.

So apparently there's a bronze game too. After allowing three super weak goals yesterday, maybe time for Hävelid to rest his goalie nephew?

Didn’t we beat Slovakia 9-3 in a pre tournament game ?
Oh yeah. How did that happen?

If Chára's pre-game visit in the Slovak locker room helped them defeat Finland 6-2, then I think at least Hossa, Gáborík, Šatan & Višňovský should visit the locker room prior to the finals so that we can defeat Russia as well.

When Elias was in the net it was only 2-1 for Russia, the other 7 goals were scored against second Slovak goalie. So this score is deceiving.

It was a very slow-paced game, without much contact, with porous defenses and unmotivated players.

This kind of match is won by the team with the most individual talent and the Russians have the most talent. Elias was a real strainer.

Huh? :skeptic: As explained earlier, Eliaš let in 2 goals. The remaining 7 goals were scored against Slovakia's backup goalie. See here:

Slovensko - Rusko (Reprezentácia do 18 rokov) 3:9 | Onlajny.eu

It seemed to me that Elias had taken more goals. Not pay attention to his change before the 3rd and 4th goal. Having said that, I watched the game ironing and leaving the screen from time to time to do housework. An uninteresting match.

PS: I just reviewed the timing of the change. The video only shows the change of the Russian goalkeeper after Slafkovsky's goal and I don't understand the Slovak to have the information that Elias comes out after the same goal.
