Also Kahun sat the last couple of games, and overall played way less than Draisaitl, so he should not be as tired.
I am actually glad that Drai does not play anymore games with what would likely be lots of minutes. He should get some rest, and then once again work hard in the off season to keep improving himself.

Kahun can also be a difference maker for this team and I am glad he will join the team. It seems he really wants to be there, whereas with Draisaitl I have the feeling that under these circumstances, he would have done it more out of a sense of duty, and I have no doubt that he will always be willing to play for Germany if he has the opportunity, and I'll always want him to, but in this case I have absolutely no problem with him staying in Edmonton.

true, Germany is on a good path right now and also there’s no relegation this year. So nothing to worry about.

I’m hoping that Peterka will get registered now and get a few minutes. Must be awfully frustrating to come to Riga, live in the bubble, and then seeing zero TOI.

Agreed, and I think Kahun might work well with Peterka. I doubt Söderholm would break up the "Eisbären-Reihe" to play Peterka with Reichel, so Kahun might be a very good option to play with JJ.
I would probably add Bergmann to that line and give Tiffels and Kastner a rest. Or keep Kastner as he has played with Peterka for a good part of the season and sit Bergmann.
You could also take out Loibl and move Bergmann on the line with Eisenschmid and Plachta, although they would not really have a center.

Isn't it nice to have options?

Very solid addition who is THE model player for guys like Loibl and Eisenschmid, maybe even Eder, who are hoping to become an NHL option in their mid-20s

Was there any particular reason for EDM to scratch Kahun for the two final games of the series or was it just the result of general line reshuffling? Got to ask because I have once more reached that point in the season where the playoffs get overshadowed by the World Cup and I don't follow things over there as closely anymore.

If MN loses, then Sturm would be a nice addition for the team. He has been far more important than his stats might suggest for MN. Big, fast, smart, and plays both ways. We all really like him in MN. He has been one of the pleasant surprises this year, though we had an idea last year that he might be pretty good.

Eder Fischbuch Peterka Bittner are now official registrated.Kahun arrives today .So the roster is full and no one else will come.

Well he is one in three in both regular season and play offs I think, so for a third liner those stats are actually pretty good. There were times when Rieder was a first liner in Arizona and still had weaker stats.

First Germany needs 3 additional points to get to the quarters. The win vs. Canada is worth nothing if they loose to Latvia, USA and Finland.

That last game against Latvia is going to mean something!

And not even making it to OT today against Kazakhstan could end up meaning a whole heck of a lot more than anyone is considering just now.

Seems like reichel might sit out the next game, after the check to the head in the first.

I would do so, no need to risk the kid's health. Just give JJ Peterka a chance.
I would rotate a little anyway, to keep the legs fresh.

Apparently Kahun is available for the USA match. I thought Latvia would be the first possible match.
Kahun on big ice would be great for us.

You can only imagine what kind of a hockey superpower Germany would be if hockey was the number two sport in Germany like it is in Sweden.

Football is unchaklengable as the first sport. It could become the first sport even in Finland if Finland can pull off a half decent performance in the upcoming euros, the first ever time Finland is in a major tournament.

Well, I wish we were a lot better at football considering how many Canadians play it. (hint: more Canadians play football than hockey)

It's embarrassing for us not to qualify regularly against Central American and Caribbean competition.

Ultimately I end up cheering for Germany in all of the international football tournaments as I grew up there. (I played Eishockey for HSV as a kid in the mid-80s!)

Canada has once qualified for the world cup. That was in 1986.

I played for the HSV at the beginning of the century and have coached there for a number of years since. Heck, we might even know a few of the same people?

Best regards from good ol' Hamburg!
