OT: 2021 Football Thread - Part II

Joe Judge, without fail, will take a defensive timeout in the first half of the 1st and 3rd quarters. It's absurd how often he burns defensive timeouts. I've never seen anything like it.

We also end up having to burn timeouts in order to avoid delay of game penalties. It's incredibly frustrating to see opposing teams get lined up with 20 seconds on the play clock, yet the Giants shuffle out with 7 seconds to go. It gives the QB zero time to make pre-snap reads. It's why when Jones calls an audible, he has to scramble like a madman with a second left to get the ball snapped, and we often end up taking delay of game penalties or burning a timeout. Jones bears some responsibility, but this is something that should be being coached out of his game. Successful teams do do that. Even with Mahomes playing like garbage, they were never in danger of any delay of game penalties.

He's in over his head. That answer was a load of shit, and then he had to double down in an attempt to not look like a liar. Problem is, it instead makes him look like a moron who can't get a simple comm issue fixed.

I'd have more respect for him if he just admitted to his mistakes and tried to be better. Instead, we get the headset excuse and dismissing analytics as "nerd science."

We as fans shouldn't have to deal with intern-level head coaching, but if you're going to be learning on the job and making every mistake in the book, at least own your shit. Judge has become a weasel as he's lost the good will of the fanbase and media.

So, Judge says they've been having problems since Week 1. NFL says they can't find anything wrong with the Giants equipment. Furthermore, they haven't been made aware of anything previously. Judge either doesn't know how to use his headset, and decided to do nothing about it the past 8 weeks, or he's lying through his teeth. Just fire this clown already.

This whole story about the Texas special teams coach's stripper girlfriend's emotional support monkey biting a trick-or-treater is just so out there.
 
So maybe more of a hockey question than football question, but most of the board are Jets and Giants fans. The teams with the worst records in the NFL in the last 5 years. Two teams that find ways to lose every week. How can you guys be so miserable about a 6-2-2 Rangers team no matter how they look?

Expectations, at least just speaking as a Jets fan, what's the most optimistic preseason finish a Jets fan would have guessed, 6 wins? If everything broke right.

The Rangers fired everyone, and basically have a playoff mandate from the owner. I also think it's way too early to say they are bad though, I would say boring is a much better word to describe the Rangers through ten games.

im not miserable but I don’t think they’ve played well. And we have seen this before - Hank now Igor just stealing games for a team that’s playing badly.

now that’s not to say they won’t come around. It’s a 10 games into a new coaches tenure. But I absolutely am not impressed with them thus far.

You ripped Shesty, who is largely responsible for us being above .500 rn, after the last loss on a slightly questionable OT goal he gave up after a tremendous save, and your questioning how other's can rip the team in general?

I said he was the best player in the game and basically was our whole game, I just said he sucks in OT, which if you look at the record the last two seasons I'm pretty sure is true. Yes, I can criticize one aspect of one player and not say that this is a terrible hockey team that has all shitty players. Saying Shesty sucks in OT but was the best player on the team in the game is a lot different from all of our players suck, this team is garbage.

I agree with this. Igor is leading the NHL in goalie point shares after 10 games with 2.4 (which seems low). For context, Vasilevsky led the NHL with 9.6 last season.

I'm certainly not miserable, they've been in every game except the Caps and Flames. It just seems they haven't been in sync to start the game. Hopefully its just getting used to a new system.

Just reading about the Ruggs accident and that poor woman. I have zero sympathy for him and this is just horrendous. A young life gone and her family probably never will recover.

The roads in that town are harrowing. Idiots like that out drinking & driving every night of the week. When I first moved there in 2011 I heard a stat on the radio that at any given time of the day, 1 out of 4 drivers in Vegas metro is intoxicated. Football Saturdays & Sundays are like New Years Eve with everyone getting tanked in the local casinos watching & betting the games. Scary, scary driving environment that I do not miss.
 
The Jets playing 15 yards off every WR, and not being able stop a nose bleed in the run game is a bold strategy.
 
Nice to see some guys doing things on offense, Moore and Michael Carter. Defense is scary bad, Mims had a shot back to back weeks in place of Davis, and showed nothing but drops.
