Poor Jets, need everything except a QB. Unless they ruin the kid, then they also need another QB soon.

edit: ok, the Jets have a defense too. The interior seem strong.

room for improvement everywhere but REALLY need OL

Jets offense needs a lot of work.
The D is good. Way overworked
Agree overworked
not bad.
good is pushing it

but the lack of OL is causing all these problems like I said they would

Three years (granted two offseasons), and two 1st round picks along with multiple free agent additions... zero improvement on that OL. At what point do you begin to question Douglass execution? Was I expecting a playoff team? Of course not. I was expecting to win 5-7 of 17 games and be competitive in a handful of others. Despite all the additions, the OL is as bad as ever. Despite the high picks and multiple free agent signings it might even be worse. Corey Davis has been meh. I liked the last two drafts, but at some point we want to see some progression instead every season feels worse than the one before it.

I was willing to say hell with everything besides Wilson
put
Darnold, our extra picks, etc etc
on the table
get OL stud help now.

team would still suck, but your QB would be able to get thru a game

It's bad enough that GVR and McGovern have been bad, but they have also come off as completely unlikeable talking to the media.

There’s been a lot of this shit so far this season. The OL and receivers completely letting Wilson down.

That isn’t to say Wilson hasn’t made mistakes. I can’t find the source tweet but I read after week 3 Wilson’s comp % is 55 but expected comp % is 71 based on PFF or Next Gens stat.

It's strange because last year I thought Judge did well, considering first year coaching and the roster he had to work with. This year I feel like he's half the reason we are 0-3 instead of 2-1. The leash is short.

A miracle needs to happen for the Giants at this point.

I don’t think Jones has been all that bad. His one big mistake was the fumble against Denver. But other than that I have been satisfied. Still left wanting to see more, and that is really on Garrett no matter what you think of the OL, but satisfied.

This team should be 2-1. But here we are 0-3 with a mountain of a schedule ahead.

I vented the other week about Jones not being the guy, but to me he looks like a legitimate starting QB. He's not a franchise guy, but I think he's a guy who is capable of winning with a good team around him. At #6 you're looking for more of a franchise guy, but what are you going to do.

It will be interesting to see what the approach is for the franchise moving forward. I think I would pass on restarting again with another QB. The Jets are a prime example of what happens when you keep going QB and don't have the right supporting pieces. Focus on the pass rush and OL. Let Jones be.

There is the question you’ll be facing with Jones... start again with another high pick or decide to pay the man starting QB money. I guess whatever QBs are available will be the driving factor.

Very true. I'm not going to pretend to follow college football deeply, but I haven't heard QB chatter like I had about Lawrence/Wilson/Fields/etc. So I'm kind of assuming there's no justifiable options at the moment, given the Giants might very well have two top 10 picks.

Count me as someone who is still super skeptical on Jones. Everyone and their mothers have pointed out how conservative the Giants offense has been and yet few are making the seemingly obvious connection between that and Jones low turnovers and high completion percentage. Has there been an in-game or post-game analysis that hasn't mentioned how Jones locks on one receiver and repeatedly misses open guys? Or acknowledging how the offense falls apart when they get into the red zone and the field shortens and there's increased pressure on his decision-making. It's honestly a nightmare that Judge kept Garrett and this offensive scheme because I just don't see how you can evaluate Jones fully after yet another season playing in this offense. And yet (hopefully but also sadly perhaps unlikely) the Giants should not have another draft with as much draft capital as they do this coming year.

IMO if the Giants were to actually open up their offense like we're all hoping for, Jones' turnover numbers will spike. As of now, I'm afraid the conservative offense is actually covering up for a lot of his deficiencies and allowing him to escape a lot of the blame and scrutiny that he would otherwise receive as a #6 overall (!!!!) "franchise" quarterback pick.

As always, FIRE GETTLEMAN yesterday.

At this point, I want the Giants to go 2-15 for the betterment of the long term of the franchise. Mara has to be forced to confront the fact that the style of football he wants has gone the way of the dinosaur. He needs to bring in a young GM who is preferably working in a successful, modern organization like KC or Baltimore. Ideally, he fires Gettleman and hires the new guy midseason (which will never happen) so that new guy can get his scouts in order before the draft.
The GM should pick the coach and not Mara. This team has had serious injury problems for years so I think it is time to get rid of the entire strength and conditioning teams and try something new there as well.
A hard reset is in order from top to bottom. The team will be a cellar dwellar for at least 2 more years before the cap space opens up so the goal should be to recoup as many draft picks as possible.
Jones I think will stay for at least next year. He's the only guy on the team besides Gano who plays with any heart and there aren't any viable replacement options. Maybe he clicks with the new GM and HC.
If this Giants team turns it around and finishes at .500, Mara will convince himself that this is somehow a team that's a year away and sets us back another 5 years.
Hiring Abrams to be GM would be horrible. This team needs a complete house cleaning and a hard reset. Everyone on the football operations side needs to be shown the door, from the GM, to the assistants, to the scouts, to the trainers, to the coaches. And there aren't many players on this team that are worth a damn either.
Also getting really f***ing sick of all the leaks out of the Giants FO. It seems that the press is reporting everything the Giants intend to do before they do it so the whole league can scheme against. Whether it be trading up in front of us in the draft or driving up FA prices.

Definitely not the easiest stretch to start a season for a rookie QB. Denver also has one of the best secondaries around. Carolina is their pass rush. NE has all the talent in the world. They really should have given up 14 to New Orleans. That TD that Callaway pulled down was pure luck. Jones threw a pick 6 in there as well. Even with that, Winston in that offense should be okay to put up points, but they didn't.

Titans and Falcons up next. Neither have a defense worth talking about. Titans have more talent, but that defense has not been good. Hopefully they can get some momentum going. Early bye week is good too. Let Wilson digest the first 5 weeks of play and learn. Watch some games on Sunday of that week and see what other teams are doing. It could be helpful.

CAR run defense so far is ridiculous too. And Burns and company have been dominant rushing the QB as you noted. Exciting defense. Lots of talent. Accumulated a lot of talent on that defense the last few drafts. Shame to see Horn go down with his injury.

Guys like Fangio and Belichick- Wilson isn't going to run into that in college.

Landry on TEN had a ton of pressures on Wentz this past weekend. Needed it too with Dupree virtually out (didn't play any snaps). On the plus side, hopefully the Jets line can play up a notch or two with the game in NY.

FWIW Cimini on Mims is saying the coaches don't believe he's earned a spot in the starting lineup and Douglas is telling other teams he isn't interesting in trading him. He also says it isn't a lock Mims plays this weekend with Crowder and Moore banged up. Wow.

Here's the most infuriating thing about the Jets, especially after the Gase fiasco. Lafleur was an assistant and passing game coordinator for Shanahan. The Shanahan system is predicated on the run opening up the rest of the playbook. Gadget runs and motions to give the QB easy reads on defensive assignments....the most QB friendly system possible. Yet against the Broncos we had 12 rushing plays....excuse me? AFTER your QB threw 4 picks and absolutely struggled and needed a pick-me-up game. I don't care that you are a rookie QB, most of use dopey QB warriors know you have to take care of your rookie QB better than that regardless of what the scoreboard says.

Unfortunately most of the idiots on social media are calling Wilson a bust, etc, but the leash on Lafleur has to be short right? I don't care what the result is, but if they don't have a least 30 rushing attempts and Wilson has more than 30 drop backs they are losing the next game bad and Lafleur should be canned.

I agree.

as someone who has been super critical of Jones since the draft pick I think he’s actually played ok this year. He’s far from the reason they are losing games.

this offensive game plan is abominable. I don’t know how good the giants offense truly is but I feel confident that it’s better than this garbage.
