QB or elite pass rusher in the top 4. Otherwise, get out, Wirfs down in Tampa have up one sack all year.

If we didn't have Mt. Becton, I'd definitely go for Sewell. But we do have him and I don't want either of those guys playing right tackle. So yeah, we are in agreement. I dont see an edge rusher even close to being someone to be considered so a Wilson needs to be bigtime in the conversation even if we trade down a few slots.

depth aside Becton is not enough
Sewell AND Becton. NOW you're talkin...

QB or get out IMO. Somebody will call for trade. Wirfs went #13 overall and gave up one sack. Load up on picks imo. Unlike the Giants who never bothered picking up the ringing phone and selected Barkley. That was 15 wins out of the last 48 games ago. Smh

For the Jets: (Unless Watson is a reality)

Keep Darnold.

Trade down (Atlanta at 4, Detroit at 7, Carolina at 8 all possibilities)

Let's make it Carolina for 8, their 2, 2022 1st and 2nd. (NFL.com has this trade in their mock, but it felt light 8th, 3rd, 4th, 2022 1 and 3)

At 1.8, take OT Rashawn Slater Northwestern. I love Sewell, but Becton is the LT here, and Slater is more versatile and can play RT, or even Guard if necessary.

1.23 , I go for a DE-OLB rusher like Miami's Jaelan Phillips, or Georgia's Azeez Ojulari.

With the now 2 2nd round picks, I would look at RB, Oline, CB, WR as my targets.

So at 2.34, RB Travis Etienne Clemson
And at 2.39 (Carolina's 2), OG Wyatt Davis Ohio St.

Not a sexy draft, but addresses major needs.

Can't presume you def get a hit in that range, maybe maybe not and whoever, will not be as good as Sewell.
Pls for once just take the sure thing.

take Sewell

do the Seattle 1st and NYJ 2022 1st for 8OA = Slater

options on keeping Darnold or moving him w/add in package on which case we roll w/a scrub placeholder while we groom somebody

If Gs and Ts are superior/dominant, then adequate C and we can finally REALLY address need.

Luck? There are many players, including all-time greats which went after pick 10. Taylor Lewan, OBJ and Aaron Darnold all went back to back to back after pick 11 a few years back.

You’re putting all you faith in one player who hasn’t even played in over a year like he’s the future MVP. You’re lucky of he’s Erik Williams who went in Round 3 to the Cowboys.

1. 8OV wouldn't be on the table for that offer. This is specific to deal up for one of the QBs.

2. The Jets are not one player away. This is a team that needs to address a ton of positions. Especially going to a 4-3 defense again.

3. A few of the mocks have toyed with Slater ahead of Sewell.

4. Even if Slater is 85% of Sewell, you rather have Sewell over Slater, 39th pick, and a potential top 10 pick and a 2 next year?

5. It now sets up the Jets with 5 picks in the first 2 rounds of the 2022 draft, where the regular scouting and combines will be back to have a better process.

I really hope we trade Darnold. Even with a new and hopefully improved coaching staff I just don't see him turning it around with the Jets, hope he goes to Indianapolis or something and gets a fresh start.

He will be what he is, but better, assuming better protection and coaching.

His likely undoing is bad decisions, which can be improved but I will expect only so much.

Whether we deal him now or later or at all depends what is the return, not the fallback position. imo.

jets ol is so effed w/only Becton as signif that I take Sewell who will not be there if Dolphins get him at 3, and then I see what is the cost to move up on Slater.

There are other holes, yes, but I don't care. We have a chance to premium build a critical complement to the team, do it. Worry about the other units later, knowing this will no longer be a headache [barring injury].

If the Jets really want to keep Darnold they HAVE to draft about 3 offensive linemen in this draft. And the first should be Sewell, plug him at LT, and bookend him with Becton and don't worry about that position for 10 years. Then draft a stud center in the 3rd.

The Giants need weapons for Jones before they ruin him. None of their receivers can separate. Only Slayton can do it, but he is a 3rd receiver at best who is best suited as a 3rd or 4th option bc he cannot beat press coverage and is a deep ball pony. They need to draft two and sign one IMO. You can count on Shepard to get hurt again. And I don't want Tate anywhere near Daniel Jones any longer. And not to mention Evan Engram. They won't trade him but they should draft his replacement in this draft in the mid rounds. They need to draft one in the first and another on day 3. This is a deep receiver draft. And sign a legit number 1 like Golloday or Robinson. Preferably a big guy. And use the first on Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle or my personal favorite of the bunch Jamarr Chase. Then I would take a hidden gem like Jonathan Adams in the 4th round. And TE Zach Davidson in the 5th, another diamond.

sounds good to me but if we can swing another T to be a stud G that works also.
kind of like in hockey an abundance of pivots better than too many Ws

I think Centers are hard to find. Good centers that can push the pile are just as important as LT. Guards are a dime a dozen unless they are all pro and even then they are easier to replace than the tackles and centers.

Also need to add some weapons for him on offense. Plugging the line comes first.

I can't commit to Sewell at 2. This is not Jonathan Ogden. And not with the holes all over the roster.

The 2 pick is for a QB (Watson or drafted), or you trade down.

Like I said in another post, you can get Slater later in the top 10, and grab a boatload of picks for it.

Grab an extra 2 in the deal, and draft C Creed Humphrey from Oklahoma instead of Wyatt Davis if that is the case with C > G.

I rather have Slater, an extra 2, and a 2022 1st than Sewell. Especially considering there is no combine this year.

Not counting kick returners, the last Jet WR who made the pro bowl was Rob Moore. Jets haven't drafted a WR in the 1st round in 20 years and he made the pro bowl only after the jets traded him for a former 3rd round pick they released. These aren't unrelated.

Then fair enough we agree to disagree.

.

OT is not like QB, DE or WR at #2.

QB - if a QB is great he can dominates the game

DE - the DE doesn’t just win the gap but dictates the field

WR - can take a routine play and turn it into a home run

OT - whether you win the gap by a little or a lot it doesn’t really change the game unless you lose the gap.

I have no issues grabbing a LT at 2 if it's going to be an Ogden/Pace/W. Jones type. The Jets already have their LT, and the Jets are not in a position of a luxury pick.

Sewell at 2 is a luxury pick.

You have Atlanta, Detroit, Carolina, and now even Philly licking their chops for a QB.

Trade down and accumulate.

Hell, you can move down to 4 or 6 and still get Sewell.
